Default Continuing the Harry Potter Collection....?

As we all know Harry Potter 6 comes out this summer, and on Blu Ray later in the year. I always plan what i buy.... heres my dilemma. I just got my Blu Ray about 2 -3 months ago, so all my Harry Potter movies are on DVD. Now that 6th one is being released, i dont know if i should continue buying them on DVD, and finishing off the collection on DVD, or start buying the Blu Rays. What i wanted to do was finish the collection on DVD and once they are all out on Blu Ray. Buy the whole collection (It will prob. be an amazing collection) on blu ray. What should i do?

Stop buying the DVDs and sell them ASAP. Get the 7 movie set which will be coming out in 2-3 years, it's sure to be awesome.

I am in the very same situation. I don't know what I am going to do. I am a huge Potter fan and want them on on Blu-ray, but think I will regret it if they come out with some great box set once they are all out.

Well of course you should sell the DVDs. You are posting on Blu-ray.com after all !
I dunno whether to wait or pick up vol 6 myself. 7's gonna be a 2 parter which they'll probably drag out over 6 months. Release each part individually, then as a 2 disc collector's set, then probably for holiday season 2011 or 2012 they'll finally put out the complete master collection.
Just guesses.

I discovered an odd thing after I bought my PS3. My DVD of Order of the Phoenix looked like crap on my HDTV! It was all pixel-y at the beginning. I think I read someplace that maybe WB embedded something in the DVD to do that. Sounds like a conspiracy theory, I know, but it made sense! In any case, my work was willing to buy my DVD trunk set, so I used the money to upgrade to the Blu-ray trunk set. Blu-ray is the only format I can enjoy (visually anyway, the film was so-so) Order. All is good with the world now.

Edited to add: Unless WB does something crazy and produces some lavish collector's set just to hold the first six films, I'm hoping to hold out until the last film is released and included in some lavish 8-film collector's set. By that time, I could resell my trunk, keep it as a collectible, or give it to a friend.

What i wanted was to not get rid of my DVDs, maybe have the whole collection, on both DVD and Blu Ray.

Dvd's lose their value really fast. Stick with blu!

Start saving for this set!

My recommendation is to buy new blu-rays from this point forward.

To complete your DVD collection, wait a few months after the new movies are released and purchase the DVD's when the price goes down. New release DVD's lose their resale values much faster than blu-rays. Unless you have some need to only have new DVD's, you should be able to pick up inexpensive used DVD's on Amazon Marketplace, half.com, eBay, etc.

I have parallel DVD/BD collections of the Harry Potter movies.

DVD's for my daughter to watch with her friends, and Blu's for me.

i say if you want to get the whole "Definitive Collector's Set thing" when its out on blu-ray with all the films and extras and w/e else they decide to put in there but can't wait until then to own the movies in some form, then pick up the dvds until then since it would save you a lot of money if you're just going to be rebuying them in a set anyway.

if i was in the situation i'd probably buy the 6disc set that will be coming out and then just add the last two individually to the collection

But will they sell the castle with just the 6th film in it? I already have the first 5, so I'd like to just get the castle and #6, and fill it up myself...

I suppose I could sell the BDs I already have, but that would be a nice thing for WB to do...

That would be nice, but I highly doubt it will happen.
