Default 24fps - What's the difference between "Auto" and "On"

Concerning the 24fps output option on the PS3 - what is the difference with selecting "Auto" verses selecting "On"? Thanks all!

Depending on the display it's hooked to, Auto or On really don't make a diff.

If it's set to Auto, the PS3 will first detect if the HDTV/Projector is capable of handling 1080p24. If the HDTV/Projector cannot, it'll set it at 1080p30/25 (depending on the region of the PS3).

If it's On, the PS3 is forcing the HDTV/Projector to accept a 1080p24. If the HDTV/PJ can't handle it, you'll get a blank screen.

Interesting...I changed my PS3 set to "ON" for the 24fps setting & I have a Panny 42' PX80U (768p), which I didn't think was 24fps capable, and I'm not getting any blank screens while playing any of my BD's...cool

I'm not sure about that blank screen bit. I am able to set mine to On and still have a picture (and my Sammy LN-T4061F does not support 1080p/24fps). Or am I confused?
