Default Knocked Up compromise?

My gf really wants to see it. I told her i was boycotting Universal and the answer was no. Then we came to a deal. I see Knocked Up with her, she buys me a blu-ray movie. Do you guys think this is fair?

Personally I don't think boycotting a movie studio for something like a decision not to support Blu-ray, is going to make a difference. The studio is not going to suffer...besides is it worth it to strain a relationship over something so trivial?

But good deal on getting a Blu-ray movie out of it....maybe you are on to something here...

Heh, just buy tickets to another movie with a similar showtime that you do want to support, and walk into the Knocked Up showing instead. I do it all the time with films I'm curious about, but don't want to give any money to. It's incredibly easy to do at your average giant cineplex.

I paid for spidey 3 and watched Knocked Up. Screw universal where it hurts them the absolute MOST, the box office.

I don't see the problem here. She's your girlfriend not your wife. Dump her.

I think Wonder gives the best option and boycotts are fairly stupid but sometimes it is a matter of principle (which is why I will not but Sony unless I don't have a choice).

I told my girlfriend that we aren't allowed to see any Universal flicks until they release on BD. She asked why, I told her and she said "Good, they deserve it." Yes... I know, she's a keeper.

Stick to your convictions, why do you need to watch Universal crap anyways?

Why don't you treat her to some good food with the movie ticket costs, while you watch a Blu-Ray at home?

I'm semi-boycotting Universal as well. I try to get most of my movies on BD...getting regular DVDs is my last resort and I always get the Universal movies IF i had to get a regular DVD. I don't waste my movie watching on regular DVD if I can get it on BD.

Universal will go neutral and by then, I'll stop boycotting them. You've got quite a dilemma though. I'd just watch it with her and not let her buy the DVD until it comes out on BD.

Support the writer/director and pay for the ticket. They don't just allow anyone to direct, and shunning a talented director means fewer good films in the future.

Universal has some good flicks.

The Bourne Series
Children of Men
The Good Sheperd

Do what I did. Purchase them on regular DVD. If you have a PS3, DVD Upscaling works great. I purchased the first season of Rescue Me on DVD, it looks amazing. I thought I was watching a Blu-ray.

They will get the hint sooner or later.

Knocked Up was better than all the three peats that i saw this spring ... plus its seriously only a matter of time before they give in and go dual format ... its win win for them the longer they hold out the greater the demand and then they will be the highest selling studio especially if they start with a good lineup ... all hypotheticals ... i just hope it happens by christmas or sooner ...

I'll wait and see Knocked Up when it comes out on DVD. As far as Universal goes they're literally crapping their pants over Evan Almighty. Advance reviewws are terrible. Universal has over $250 million sunk into this turkey. If it bombs they are in big trouble. They only have a one week window with Ratatouille opening next week. Now you know why the execs at Universal were so happy with Knocked Up. They'll need the profits to cover Evan Almighty's losses.

its good have have principles but you got to remember that shes helping bluray by buying you a movie and that really hurts the real enemy (hddvd) universal will wise up and jump on the blu wagon.
