Maybe most of you will say I'm nuts, but a few weeks ago I had this long talk with an out-of-state friend who is also a BluRay fan. The conversation got around to 3D on disc and he pointed out the following and, damn if it doesn't work, sort of.......
He pointed out that 3D movies are shot with two camera lenses and are viewed through a pair of lenses to match our two eyes. Obvious, right? But a 2D movie is shot with one lens yet still viewed with two eyes. He insisted that a single camera lens does indeed capture a certain amount of depth, but that it is lost when we view the film with two eyes. He suggested that I go out and buy an eye patch at a local drug store and try watching a film with the patch on. He also said it is necessary to first determine which of the two eyes is the weaker and that is the one to be covered. HOT DAMN!!!! There may not be flaming arrows leaping off the screen, but a certain amount of depth does indeed become apparent. Next I bought a second eye patch and ran a film for a near-by friend and he agreed. Try it. |
