Default OK, you can call me crazy, but

I just bought my first BD player (the Panasonic DMP-BD30K); I have a Toshiba also (see my sig). Well, after some soul-searching, it's pretty clear (to me, at least) what format the smart money's on. So...call me crazy...for movies available in both formats, I sold my HD-DVDs to a friend with an XBox 360 with HD-DVD player, and I reordered those in Blu-Ray.

Current rules of engagement are now: If a movie is available in one format exclusively, and I must have it, I will buy it in the available format. If I have a choice, it's Blu.

Nice place you have here!

Mark

I think you would be crazy if you stuck around HD-DVD exclusively. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay. BTW you have one of the best BD players and made a very smart decision.

I like the AppleTV. However, without the studio support, it's pretty crippled. When NBC pulled out, over 40% of the TV shows went with it. I use it now mainly to play Apple Lossless and AAC music files in the living room, show off photos, and catch up on TV shows I missed. It could be a gem. I'll be interested to see if The Steve announces something about the AppleTV in January, at MacWorld.

My main gripe is the interface for music--not bad for playlists, etc., but for the 10K songs I have, not the best. The rest of the interface is quite nice for the other functions.

Thanks.

We have two iMacs in the house and had looked at it last year..but I didn't see it offering enough over/in addition to the PS3 media functions. Also being in Canada I wasn't even sure if the TV part was available at that time or is now for that matter.. so it kind of fell off the list out of confusion / neglect around that issue.

However I am looking forward to getting Leopard installed on the iMacs, TimeMachine set up and using it for backing up all sorts of stuff...including our PS3 backups.

Not crazy, and welcome. I think there are at least a few others here with your mentality.

As for myself. I don't think I could ever do it.
