New HT Setup with Diagram
Hi guys! I have done a lot of reading on this site over the past month...basically learning from you pros out there about proper HT setup etc. (yes I am now an addict). This site and the knowledgeable people on here have helped me so much over the last little while, I would just like to say thank-you. I have come up with my own schematic for my new renovated basement (24’ x 15’) which will be complete in about two weeks and I’m moving all my gear down there. I have tried to refine this diagram as much as I can and if you can let me know if I’m on the right track for Speaker placement etc. or if you have any suggestions that would be great! I want to get it right the first time. All speaker wire (Blue Jeans) will behind the wall. I know my rear speakers are pretty far from the listening position but there is nothing I can do about that. Thanks |

Wow, that looks fantastic. I wouldn't worry about the distance to the rears. You can compensate for that in your receiver.
If I were building in the basement the #1 concern I would have would be the acoustic environment. Are you carpeting? Ceiling tiles? What's on the walls? |

Thanks for your reply repete.
The left wall is all closed in so I don't have to worry about that. Unfortunately the right side is wide open for another 15'. See attached. That does worry me. The ceiling will be drywall and the floors will be laminate but I will have a rug that covers the area from the tv to the main listening area. |

That's pretty close to my setup, except as of right now my sub is in the front, till i build my cabinet.
Looks good! I did the speaker wire in wall such as yourself, it makes things so much nicer! For the back surrounds, I spaced my out a bit like you have shown, mainly b/c of room constraints. I don't have them hooked up .... yet... I just got finished with a complete basement build. Keep us up to date with photos. |

My name comes from another top band of mine: Sevendust I'm just as much of a music guy as I am a movie guy. Good luck with the build, let me know if you need any advice from someone who made some mistakes and learned from them. PS - my wife wanted laminate flooring too, but I talked her into carpet due to our kids being able to fall on it and not crack their heads open. It worked! ![]() |
