Question Garden State -- Discussion

Spoilers below...

So just watched Garden State this evening for the third time since 2007, really dig this flick. Big fan of Scrubs and like Natalie Portman (who doesn't!) so it's fairly easy to make the transition, strong soundtrack to boot.

What's everyone think about this movie?

First time I saw it I was really bummed (post-break up, other shit) and the movie was really enjoyable but wasn't a fan of the happy ending. Saw it a second time in neutral mindset and still enjoyed, but tonight popped it in while a bit unhappy about something and found it really enjoyable again, without even minding the ending, makes more sense why they went that direction. Alot of it just seems to strike a cord, one of my favourites now.

Thoughts?

I for one didn't like it. For some reason, all of Zack Braff's films have this same depressing to me.

I too was not a fan of this movie. I can't really explain it, but something just didn't work for me. I didn't like Braff's character, and in recent years I've grown to dislike Braff in general. I also didn't like the ending. I guess in general I just found the movie to be too odd.

Great sound track and overall great movie. Also "The Last Kiss" was fantastic. Both Zach Braff flicks are real life drama oriented.

Yeah curious about The Last Kiss too, took me forever to see Garden State it seemed.

Side note, I'd love to see a list of women that Braff has kissed on screen.

Natalie Portman
Rachel Bilson
Sarah Chalke
Heather Graham
Mandy Moore
Elizabeth Banks

One of the weirdest movies I've ever seen but definitely a first or second day buy when it hits blu-ray.

I love the movie. I'm a huge fan of Scrubs and I feel a lot of people don't give Zack Braff the credit deserves. He is a great actor and both a talented writer / director.

Middle of the road for me, nothing great, nothing bad. Just average and unremarkable.
