No more Stargate Atlantis Blu-rays - Blu-ray Forum

Sniff, how deep we've fallen. Stargate Atlantis was originally supposed to be the first TV series to be released on Blu-ray and now it seems the 'fan's choice' Blu-ray disc is all we'll get. Apparently, MGM doesn't think there's a big enough market for Atlantis on Blu, even though the two direct-to-video Stargate movies sold very well on Blu-ray.

The language is careful - only release planned. One can be planned in the future, and perhaps will be when blu-ray becomes a more dominant format. Perhaps if SG:U or the DTV Atlantis movies take off on Blu-ray, that'll inspire them.

This is a big bummer for me. I hadn't ever seen any of the Stargate TV shows until a friend lent me Atlantis seasons 1-4 on DVD this spring and I got hooked. Hulu had all of Season 5 up for a while, so I've seen all the episodes.

Haven't watched the direct-to-video stuff, tho. Any good?

I'd totally buy this on Blu. Here's hopin'.
