Default Are LG LCDs any good?

Are LG LCDs any good? I'm thinking of buying one for my vacation house. To be exact, it's the 42LG51, but I don't think they sell it in the US.

Update: My vaca house is in China.

The LG is 769 and the Samsung is $950. Is it worth paying the extra?

LG- 42LG51
Samsung- LA40A550 or LA40B530

short answer, Yes, I was gonna get an LG once for my bedroom, but as I looked at the LGs and compared it against the Samsung, the Samsung stood out better.

I would.

TVs last a pretty long time so that extra $200-ish is worth it.

Let me tell you what I would do.

It looks like you already have a Samsung 40 inch TV in your house. how about putting that in the vacation home and getting a 46 inch Samsung for your house.

Samsung LN46B530 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV $1100 with free shipping

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

That way you would have a bigger TV in your house (always good) and have A awesome TV in your vacation house.

You would be paying $150 for 6 inches. thats $25 per inch. GOOD DEAL!!!!

and from the looks of it your sand can support a 46 inch TV
so everyone is happy!!!!

What makes the Samsung superior to the LG?

My vaca house is in Shanghai, so I don't think I would want to import the TV to China.

I have the 52LG70 and I love it! I shopped around and compared many sets. I liked the picture of the LG better. The settings I gave it at home just made it even better. I can't help but notice that the people who say go with (fill in the blank) over the LG do not actually own an LG. But honestly, you won't be unhappy with an LG, a Samsung, or a Sony.

As part of a company wide contest I won a 42" LG so I paid nothing for it and moved my sony 36" into the den.

The only issue I have had with my tv is as I posted in another thread the tv leans forward significantly on the stand, performance wise no trouble.

It really comes down to what you want for me I may not ever would have purchased the tv(but am very satisfied with it),I would have shopped the major name brands Samsong or Sony.

I would say for me I am happy with it.

Thanks for all your help. I just went to the store and bought the Samsung LA40B530 for only $277! It's just a steal for a great brand. The sales representative said that LG TVs have been known to break really easily.

LG and Sharp are very similar in screen picture quality. You can actually see the tiny squared pixels on the screen itself. Not very smooth looking. I would stay away.

I agree, I prefer Samsung TVs.
