I would call Sony, explain the problem to them, and "strongly" insist that you get a PS3 that's in good condition/new. If what you're saying is true, it's likely that you're just having terrible luck, but they should do something to help you out.
Normally the refurbished PS3's they send work just fine as they're tested first.

What type of space are you putting the ps3 in, is it enclosed? Seems maybe the problem is they send you refurbs that aren't really fixed. Can you buy a new one?

Worse! (hardware reliability)

I would think you are just having terrible luck like another poster mentioned. Do you keep your electronics clean from dust and ventilated more than adequately?

Calling up Sony is the best bet. Just be strong with your tone and your frustrations and their CS representatives should find a way to fix your problem.

Good luck!

Ive had enough but ive heard rumors that a new one will be sent out if the problem is as bad as this so i was just wondering about your thoughts and questions you would say to Sony if this problem happened to you
Thanks Guys

I am inclined to think it is the user causing problems if, litterally, five individual machines broke.

Even with the RROD the odds of 5 of them going bad is around a 2% chance. Oddly, that is above the reported odds of a ps3 failing once.

Let's say that a ps3 refurb breaks 15% of the time in the first few months, then with 5 you are insanely unlucky.

With that, my first question is what changed between the original working and the rest breaking? My guess would be that no matter what Sony does, it won't fix the problem.

In any case, that sucks a lot, and good luck! Yikes.

5 broken PS3's in a six week period? Wow. That's incredible. I'm inclined to agree with above.

Thats pretty impressive on Sony's part with being able to provide 6 PS3s in 6 weeks.

you should look at getting either a surge protector or power conditioner. 5 in 6 weeks tends to make me believe it is something other than the ps3. Either that or you have real bad luck. Especially if you live in an older building there may be some issue with your power source.

i'm on my 3rd PS3(refurbished I think) but it's been working great since I got it(then again the 2nd one did for 3 months to)

these posts are literally giving me bad dreams... I just had a dream my PS3 had the YLOD and I woke up like just staring at the standby light on my PS3.

Had my 60 since nov 06 and I use the heck out it and it's trouble-free.

I can't imagine this is anything but bad luck or abuse.

I hope you get it sorted out.

Good Luck,

Brian

This is what i suggest. If you can, get an APC. I am thinking something might be going on with your power and shorting out your PS3. So many systems failed one after the other in a short period of time.

FYI my original 60gig still kicking.

I agree. Hell, my original PS1 is still kicking, and my PS2 was an onriginal realease and still kicking. My PS3 is a 60GB and running great, practically 24/7. Always well ventilated, always at least on a decent surge strip.
