Default Plasma price speculation

So I think I might want to upgrade my old lamp style 56" sammy DLP to atleast a 58" plasma around Turkey day this year and was looking at this and wondered what folks might think/speculate how plasma prices might be at that time of this year.

Panasonic Viera TH-58PZ800U 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV- Panasonic
Condition: New
Seller's Price:$2,006.94

By Thanksgiving you may not find many of the 58PZ800U as it's last years model and there will likely be little to no stock available or refurbs only. The replacement model is the 58" V10 series that is set to debut later this month. FYI, $2000 is not a bad deal to pay for this model but how much is shipping? My local HHGregg has it on sale for around $2000.

yeah I was thinking I'd heard about the V10, and even that there is a 850U model, out now? I don't mind last years model, I'm not one that needs the new model with all this years doodad features.

Avoid getting last year model, you could get the 54" v10 for the same price.

I'm hoping the 58" V10s will be <$2500 by Thanksgiving. If they are, theat's my trigger. Sub-$2K for a 58" 800/850U would be a real bargain if you can get one. Don't listen to the negativity from some folks about these. You really need to consider the sources, if you know what I mean. The 800/850Us are good, solid performers with excellent picture quality. A small percentage had 24p flicker issues, but those were the exception, and most people never saw it.

Plasma prices appear to be pretty stable. I wouldn't bank on any major price decreases anytime soon unless we see a new technology arrive. LED doesn't seem to be the plasma killer that many thought.

I'm really hoping that I can go >= 58" for the 2K-2.5K price range as a graduation present to myself.

(graduating with an AS at the age of 37!)

I thought the same thing. Then I got rid of my Hitachi ultravision 62" and purchsed a 52" xbr 4. I dont miss it though. My Xbr 4 blow it away.
