PS3 regular dvd question - Blu-ray Forum

When playing regular dvds my PS3 converts the aspect ratio..like a widescreen movie with blakc bars has no black bars..any suggestions? thanks

Are you saying that your PS3 is zooming in and cropping the picture while playing DVDs? That would indeed be puzzling. The first thing I would recommend checking would be the PS3 display settings to ensure that the PS3 recognizes that it is connected to a 4:3 or 16:9 display depending on which is correct.

widescreen movies in 1.78.1 and 1.85.1 don't show black bars on a widescreen tv only on a fullscreen tv.
