Default Classic Universal Monsters on Blu Ray in '09?

As we all know, Universal's remake of THE WOLFMAN hits movie screens in April of 2009, and studios love promotional tie-ins. What better time to bring their classic monsters back on a new format? Is there any chance Universal will release a small wave of classic horror films on BD to commemorate the event? For starters, I could see them doing FRANKENSTEIN, DRACULA, and (obviously) THE WOLF MAN, maybe in a box set. I know we will probably get THE WOLF MAN reissued as a 2-disk DVD (like DRAC, FRANK, and THE MUMMY before it,) but would they be kind enough in giving it to us in Blu, as well?

Remember, the first wave of Universal Monster DVD's was released back in 1999, along with the first Stephen Sommers MUMMY remake. I wonder if Universal will do the same ten years later, with BD, and the 2009 WOLFMAN...

(AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON on BD, would be much more likely, and cool as well.)

I hope so. I would love to get the classics on Blu. Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff were without peer in their time. Would love to see some classic Vincent Price as well.

Same here. I've been holding off on buying the Legacy Series DVDs in hopes that Universal will release them on Blu-ray soon.

Question Legacy Series

Universal has recently been putting out Universal Legacy Series on these guys, big two disc packages. I bought "The Mummy" one. I'd seen it on the big screen a few years ago and it definetly still has some power to it

Even with a brand new release tho there was still a good amount of PQ/AQ problems

I'm dubious a BD version of it would look/sound THAT much better

I know, heresy right?

Sure the grain and specs will still be there, but in 1080p, we'll still be getting ALOT more detail, despite the print's flaws.

I don't think I would buy these, I would like to see the quality so I would rent them since I haven't seen them in so long, but defiantly is not worth a full BD price.

Why? They're better films than alot of the newer crap that gets released on Blu anyway.

HERE-HERE!!!These are classics that would really show well on BLU.
The amount of detail that went into the sets for the day they were made would look incredible.

These films paved the way for the garbage they pass off as horror these days.
There nothing but glorified horror/porn.

I got the Legacy Collections when they came out a few years ago, but now with Blu-ray I want a update. Hope we get all of the films and their sequels. Loaded with extras of course.

I don't think this is quite what their refering to, but I would like to see it come to Blu-Ray also. The original Dracula with Bela Lugosi would be nice to.

I've been waiting to hear about these titles and the Abbott and Costello movies. Any news would be good.

Don't insult the classics like that. It's not their fault garbage gets released .

Anyway, yes to the old horror films in 1080p. They wouldn't be Iron Man like eye candy, but they would look beatuiful, given a good restoration (or would a good restoration make them look more grusome? :laug
