Default Damn X-Men 3 is Grainy. most scenes looks stunning but the grainy scenes damn

The worst grainy scene is where we first meet the boy that can cure mutants. He is in that white room. That scene was just to grainy for a HD transfer and this movie is not even old. X2 had a better transfer

The directors choice to make X3 so grainy was not a good call i think

What do you guys think of this and wasn't it a little bit of a distraction?

I've seen the movie once, and the first time was on Blu and I thought the PQ was fine.

No problem with film grain and I didn't think it was excessive in anyway. If you really want to see grainy, watch the Blu-ray import Hero, now that's grain-ilicious.

Something I rarely see mentioned in any of the grain threads, but is there any chance you have your sharpness set too high? Use one of those THX calibration tools found on any Star Wars or Indiana Jones DVD, or on any of the Pixar Blu-rays to adjust all the settings on your TV including the sharpness.

X-men III looks sharper on Blu-ray than the two anamorphic 35mm presentations I saw on the theaters. One of my favorite transfers and I use it to show how Blu-ray can look better and sharper than many theatrical presentations. Look at the detail in Beast's face. Since it's in focus and so very sharp you see the Super-35 grain sharply too. As I said to a member 2 years ago, if you want to shave the grain, make the output of the BD player be 480p and your display upscale it to 1080p again. You'll get rid of the grain.

If you had good noise remove tv or blu-ray player you won't see noise, i see noise in my 2 years old sharp 32" tv when using ps3, but i do no see noise at all when i play panny bd60 in my sammy 50" plasma, ps3 noise remove isn't the greatest.

That's because you rarely see members actually trying to HELP other members when it comes to grain.

Excellent suggestion; I hope grain-haters check it out.

Turn your sharpness down....WAY DOWN!!!

What does it take to get people to calibrate their TV?

why would you buy an hdtv and bluray then turn the sharpness and contrast way down?

Talk about defeating the purpose...
