United Kingdom Are Blu-ray prices coming down quickly?

I was just wondering if any one has noticed how quickly bluray prices are coming down?

From what i can remember when DVD's came out it took an awful long time for the prices to drop by even a few pounds. You also seem to get alot of good deals on recent or quite recent releases. i.e two for £22/£18 deals. I have also noticed sub £10 bluray films.

When DVD's first came out you was lucky to get a film for £20, Bluray films seem to be around the £16 area.

If im correct in my asumptions? Is this due to bluray films being in high demand?

BluRay prices are coming down on OLDER releases. New releases still command significant price premiums and will for a bit longer.

- new countries are getting into the BluRay business which will lower costs for studios...they will pocket the additional profit at first but market forces will drive down retail prices in the not too distant future
- slow selling crappy quality releases tend to stay at under the $10 pricepoint (example: Predator). The BD community, regardless of what we believe, is a factor in studio decisions. The community rejection of sub-standard releases has caused the industry to refocus on insuring their titles receive the proper treatment
- Retailer competition. More retailers, both online and traditional, are getting into the BD business.
- Country competition. Licensing fees vary in different countries. It's pretty easy for consumers to import their region free BDs if the price is right.
- Volume. Economies of scale play a part in cost as BD is becoming more accepted by the public, volumes increase which will also lower price.
