Default Travelling with PSP...

Hey guys, I need some suggestions...

Let me start off by saying that I don't normally use my PSP very much. I have a PSP 2000 (Daxter package) which I recently added an 8 GB memory stick to. The reason for adding the memory stick is because shortly the PSP is going to become my only gaming fix for a good while. In about 3 weeks I will be leaving here and moving to Texas. The mover is picking up all my stuff on July 14th and it will all be in storage until I get down there, find a place to live etc. I will be taking the ferry from Alaska to Bellingham, WA (3+ days on the boat) so my truck can travel with me. Then I'll be driving from there to Texas.

Games I have for the PSP are Daxter, Castlvania Chronicles, and FFVII from the PSN store. I'm looking for suggestions on other games to pick up so as to have some variety. I know FFVII will take a good long time to finish. Probably the same for Castlevania, but I'm looking for a good mix of stuff to pass the time. One title I was thinking of getting is God of War. What else would you guys suggest?

Thanks slee915, I had forgotten that there was a Resistance game for PSP. I'm sure that one would appeal to me.

Moonphase, I've seen lots of people with good things to say about Star Ocean series. Are those available in the US? I don't have time to import anything really.

Edit: I found Star Ocean 1 & 2 available at Amazon. Which is the best?

I'm currently playing Resistance on the PSP but I have to say I prefer the Syphon Filter games. The voice acting on Resistance is just awful.
God of War is fantastic and as epic as usual, you should definitely get this.
If you enjoyed Daxter you should consider Ratchet and Clank.
Also, Burnout was fun.

You should play FF7-CC before or after you play FF7, It's of of the best games for PSP in my book..

I'd definitely recommend getting something like Midway arcade - one of those sets of earlier games that were in the arcade, on the sega, etc... I always find that to be a good one to pick up or put down on the fly to play 15 mintues here or there without getting to caught up. There are some PSN games that are the same like Super Stardust or some of the PSOne games like R-types.

So what part of Texas you heading to? (And have a safe trip!)

If you are in to grid-based, turn-based strategy games, FF: War of the Lions has been taking a disgustingly large amount of my time lately.

And yes, where in TX will you be? As someone who lives in TX and lived (shortly) in AK, I have a small idea of what you will be missing, but as long as you can stand the heat then you should love it in TX!

I've been playing:

* WipEout Pulse
* Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2
* Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
* God of War: Chains of Olympus
* Final Fantasy I
* Rayman (PSN store)
* Echochrome (PSN store)

Also, I have heard GREAT things about "Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?", so I'll probably go pick that up this week.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I went ahead and ordered GOW and Star Ocean 2 from Amazon. I don't have a car charger, but I can get one along the way if needs be. I did order the bigger battery as part of the order with Amazon though. I'm travelling by myself anyway and can't play while I'm driving, at least I don't plan to hehe.

Also, I already have Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters. I had forgotten that I picked that one up a while back. I planned to play that after finishing Daxter which I never did. Daxter is the only game on the PSP that I've played any significant amount of. I was playing that one last Fall when I was back east visiting family. When I got back home it got shelved again, so I would probably just start Daxter over again anyway.. So my list is now Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Castlevania Chronicles, FFVII, God of War, and Star Ocean 2. Hopefully those will hold me until I can get settled and get my stuff back.

For those that asked, I'm moving to San Angelo, TX. I've actually lived there before as I was stationed at the AFB there. I always planned to go back. Just need to get used to the heat again.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I didn't want to find out that I picked up a crappy game after I'm stuck on that boat for 4 days. That would truly suck.

For a travel charger, I use this:

It's actually an AC and DC charger, so it works in the car and in the house. Also, it comes with adapters that make it work for PSP, GBASP, NDS, NDSLite (but not at the same time of course ). The only thing wrong with it is that the cord could be longer, but that's minor for all the cool stuff it does. Also, it costs about $20 at Walmart, so it's a steal.

Oh, and say hi to my home town for me!

Wow, that's a great deal on the travel charger. I'll have to check out the local Walmart and see if I can snag one before I take off.

You're from San Angelo? I liked it a lot when I was stationed there. Now I'm finally getting around to moving back. You can't beat the housing market. It's much better than Anchorage. Everything here is getting so expensive. What part of TX are you living in now?

I live in McKinney right now, which is about 30 miles north of Dallas. I lived in SJT (San Angelo on weather maps) until I left college and came to the DFW area. I still have lots of family there so I try to visit it a few times each year. The town has grown and changed so much (they finally finished the loop!), so I bet you'll have a great time there.

BTW, I think you'll have to talk to the Mods about changing your name on this forum...
