I didn't know where to put this, so here goes...
I have a fiber optical cable plugged into my PS3 running from my surround receiver. I recently moved my room around and was trying to unplug the optical cable from the PS3 but it seemed like it was stuck. I kept pulling it and the cap on the very end of the cable stuck into my ps3 but the rest of the wire came out. Now I am able to put everything back together and it seems to work fine, but i cannot get that cap out of the PS3!! Is there a special way to plug these cables in or something? I know they are spring loaded but nothing i tried seemed to work. Anybody else have this problem?? |

Well, it does go in one way only, the plug is shaped, so you have to match the shape with the hole and the grove with the slot.
If you had forced it in incorrectly the first time, it might have caused it to be stuck. |

the little cap on the end of the fiber optic cable is supposed to be removed before you plug the cable in

This is common with optical cable ends. The same thing happened when I was removing mine from my receiver and when I removed it from my BDP so I could take back the BD-P1200 and get the 1400. I even took it into BB and let them take the end out and put a brand new cable in it and remove it. The same thing happened to them. The end snaps in tightly and there is a small swing door that falls down behind the cap to keep it securely inserted.
She/He's talking about this, I assume, and not the protective cap on the ends when you buy the cable. Sorry, don't know your gender. |
