Default Naughty Dog is moving to a bigger, better kennel!

Naughty Dog is proud to reveal that after 6 years in our current studio space, it's time for the Dogs to move on to a bigger, better Kennel. As of March 1, 2010, we'll be based out of our new studio less than 500 feet away from our current space.

We've built out our new studio from a raw and open floorplan to a killer new studio that provides us with more flexibility in space, layout and adjusting to fluctuating staffing needs – not to mention there are some significant upgrades to help us keep developing cutting-edge, award-winning games.

As I was talking to our Co-President Evan Wells about the history of Naughty Dog and the several moves the studio has made in its lifetime – more on that later – he mentioned that he felt our new space “positions Naughty Dog perfectly to adapt to the demands of developing PlayStation games that continue to raise the bar for our industry for the next decade and beyond.” Needless to say, all of the Dogs are looking forward to settling in to our brand new Kennel!

Head on over to our Flickr set to check out some in-progress shots of the new Naughty Dog studio as it was being built out for our imminent arrival.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be showing you a bit more about what makes our new space great – including photos from our move in and a closer look at our upgrades.

I'd rather them work on Jak 4 or a new IP before working on Uncharted 3.

Anyways, congrats to ND, they deserve it. Here's hoping they keep the same quality and polish in all their future games.

Naughty Dog are the Ultimate Play The Game/ACG of PS3 gaming. There is absolutely no-one apart from thier cohorts at Studio Santa Monica that are doing what they do on the PS3. best of luck to them with their move to the new studio.

Good for them. With their past successes, they deserve to get a better studio and expand!

Mojo mentioned this on Wednesday night. Moving started on Thursday. Pogo and Trumpet will have a lot of new space to explore and sniff!

Uncharted 3, we need something to top Uncharted 2

Some new environments. Redwood Forests (could have crazed Ewoks hunting Drake), more jungles (can never have enough jungles!!!), swamps, Rocky mountians, etc.

Default Interview: Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells

Interview: Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells

Quote:
Can you have multiple teams working on different titles?

We're just focusing on one thing at a time right now. I guess that could happen. I mean, we have ... I don't know, maybe we have space for that, but we'll see. We have a theater. We built a theater in there so we can present to you guys when we've got something to show you guys or to present new games and milestones to the team.

How about other plans? Have you guys, after coming off of a game like Uncharted 2, right, massive production, hundreds of people. A lot of the developers, especially when you get to GDC, one of the things I've noticed for the last, maybe three years, developers love talking about going from big titles to small titles and getting their bearings again or having teams break off. Have you guys thought about doing PSN games? You know, smaller bite-sized games in between major projects like Uncharted 2 or whatever?

Yeah. We have talked about it. Leveraging the technology and the engine that we have, we think there's definitely some creative ideas that people have thrown out. But it's a hard thing to manage because you've got the opportunity cost, of course. Even if you have a smaller game you need to have the right leadership positions filled and those same people are the people that you want in your next big game to get it off the ground too. And then it's also more complicated now that we're doing online stuff where we've got still Uncharted 2 stuff leading forward with DLC and just patching and updating the game and refining it. So it is a lot to accomplish with our resources.
Quote:
Speaking of Sony Santa Monica, they outsourced the PSP development of Chains of Olympus to Ready at Dawn. Would you guys partner with someone like that and do a PSP version of Uncharted?

Yeah, we definitely wouldn't ourselves. We're trying to just focus on the PS3 technology. But, yeah, I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system.
And much more.

What about a sequel to their first game ever 1993's Way of the Warrior.
