Thought I'd share this cool little AV receiver Marantz is coming out with in the near future. It's definitely for people like me that basically live in a bedroom (not a big room), and also for people like me that don't want to spend big bucks just yet since I am a grad student just starting on my M.S.
Well, enough about me .. here's the cool lil' Marantz! Jodi http://us.marantz.com/products/2926.asp# |

There are no pre-outs on it so using as a pre-pro is not possible (based on the photos by the previous poster). A bit disappointing that Marantz couldn't figure binding post jacks for the surround-back speakers. On the upside, if you are looking for a classy receiver which is small enough to work with most any TV stand or cabinet, or are setting up a bedroom or small apartment theater which doesn't have to play as loudly, this could be the one. There is most definitely a trend toward making BIG chassis for more powerful receivers these days, and they can be challening to fit! ![]() |

Looks like they have discontinued the SR-4003 model for this model. Doesn't look like a bad deal. It sucks that it does not have pre-outs but they did give it the new HD codecs. The Marantz amp sections are always better than average which is plus.
It will definitely work for some people. |

This analogy maybe a stretch, but here goes: Many sports franchises are faced with the draft day dilemma of using their pick for the athlete that best suits their club at that point in time, or simply taking the best pick available regardless of position, age, money, etc.
I think in drafts and in A/V you get the most out of your money, since who knows what the future holds. Tomorrow you might move into a new house with a 25x40 living room. |

You're still thinking full blown HT, there's a very large market out there for compact electronics. My old 5.1 Klipsch setup was all small 2 pound satellite speakers like the pic below and it went to a retired gentleman that was installing a 5.1 in his RV:

This is a cool AVR for a den, office, dorm, or any other small application.

Yeah, but the 599.00 is MSRP and the 6003's MSRP is 999.00, so thats an unfair comparison. Once this has been out as long as the 6003 then the price will drop to around 420.00. |
