Default knowing floating image?

Hey I amcurious if anyone experienced a floting image at times with Knowing. Especially the sceen in the classroom at the beginning. The erased chalk in the background looks like it is a separate floating image and several sceens with Nick Cage and his son talking at the beginning appear to show the images "separated" from each other. Has anyone else expereinced this or is my player starting to screw up? I thought at first it was just this movie and then last night I was watching training day and saw the same thing with several sceens. Has anyone expereinced this or know how to fix it?

Maybe your getting that 3D pop effect that some people notice when switching from DVD to Blu-ray. I don't get a 3D pop effect though since I work at a cinema and see 2K-4K images several times a week.

I'm sorry I should have been more specific. I have had blu ray for over a year now and watched hundreds of movies on my player and TV - I have not had any changes to my equipment so I am familair with what a normal veiwing should be. This is different and I was hoping someone would pop in their copy of "knowing" and tell me if they saw the same thing in the specific scene I mentioned. The reason I asked this is that I notcied the same thing when watching the movie on DVD before I bought the blu ray version and just thought it was my player's way of "upcoverting" the standard DVD. Since the same thing showed up on the blu ray version and now on the 2nd movie "training day" I am afraid my player is starting to display images weird. But if someone else sees the "floating" I am describing then it may just be something in the way the studio produced this movie.

Anyone else ever seen a smearing effect when watching their blu rays?

I did notice a similar thing towards the end when Nick Cage goes looking for his boy in the woods. The alien/angel is standing there and then looks like it moves but shouldn't be, and it is blurry. I rewound it to see if my eyes were deceiving me but,no there it was again.

I've watched this twice now and haven't seen what you're talking about (or I just didn't notice it).

If it happened in more than one movie, then it's not the disc.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the same thing or not, but I may have noticed the same issue you're talking about. Although I believe my issue is better described as motion blur or ghosting perhaps?

Anyway, it happens with me a lot on a variety of different movies where, especially in darker scenes with faces, you'll see a lot of motion blur when the image on the screen (such as Cage's face) moves ever so slightly. I noticed this with Knowing probably more than any other movie and given the 5/5 video rating from this site, I'm sure it's not the movie's fault. If we're thinking of the same issue, is it possible that it's just a slow refresh rate? I've read and heard that you'll see some motion blur with LCD TVs that are 60Hz.

If this isn't a normal occurrence, does anybody know of any possible causes or fixes? It sounds like these two issues are closely related or the same thing.

I did not want to say anything buy Yes, I did see some weird movements while watching Knowing. It was the second time watching the Blu. The first time nothing, the second time there was some "ghosting" and strange movement of the picture in a number of spots of the movie.

I figured that the TV needed the the Blur and Judder Reduction re-set which I did after the movie was finished. I went back and played a few minutes of the movie and found that all seemed OK. So, my guess is for my set, I had to re-adjust the settings I had played with. Tomorrow, I will plug the Blu back in and watch the movie again to make sure.

I had the exact same problem, it has irritated the hell out of me. I see these 5/5 picture ratings, but I get a lot of that smearing in this movie. The darkness/face smearing I could write off to my tv, some movies do that in dark scenes others don't. But the chalk board isn't really dark enough to cause the usual smearing on an lcd, atleast I think. But I immediatley noticed it and thought I was just tired or something.
