Default Stacking Componets?

Is this safe to do?

I am searching for a new tv stand, and having little luck finding one that will serve my purposes.
So Im curious if I stack componets( BD player on top of cable box as an example) is this safe?

Thanks again for your help

I'm not sure about any electrical interference (or not) between various units when stacked, but be aware of high heat (receivers) units.

Do not stack anything on top of heat producing units.

Yes, certain components are not good to combine. Some receivers and amplifiers produce massive amounts of heat - the Onkyo 805 is great example of that.

A DVR on top or underneath a power conditioner unit also comes to mind. I wouldn't recommend that combination.

Default Reverse order...

My cable box is warm even when off and gets hot when it's on. You cable box might perform differently, but it seems that putting the cable box on top of the BD player would make more sense from the heat's perspective. I have that in my bedroom with DVD player and didn't experience any electrical interference or heat related issues.

What kind of "purpose" other than to hold equipment?
What exactly is so hard about finding a stand? There are literally thousands to choose from...Studio Tech, VTI, etc.

You can search for stands at www.racksandstands.com or www.standsandmounts.com. Then I would check to see if the brand you want is also available direct from the manufacturer. I bought a Studio Tech from Racksandstands, and then found out Studio Tech sells direct also........for less.

Pick a brand, choose a style or model, and then search for the best price.

I ended up with just a basic stand and I built separators out of bamboo. So I stack them, but have a space between each unit. Since the stand is also bamboo, it kinda works aesthetically as well.

I bought myself an Antec Low Profile AV Component Cooler from amazon and it works great!http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Profile-Component-Theater-Products/dp/B000QJ4ZE2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1248290446&sr =8-1
I have my receiver, then the Antec cooler, then my cable box on top, and everything is cool!
