Crank 2 doesn't play - Panasonic DMP-BD55 - Blu-ray Forum

Just bought Crank 2 today and when I play it in my DMP-BD55 the loading icon stays on the screen but never goes to the main screen. Downloaded the 2.0 firmware but problem still persists. Anyone have the same problem?

Had same problem (tiny partial picture, sound ok). If you don't have a BD live update cat5 (ethernet) connection - and most of us don't and didn't even know u can or should do that like me - there is a USB port in back of your machine with which to give your machine updates. Just plug any USB jump drive into that slot and the movie works.

The disc apparently has an embedded macro that won't play the movie right until it thinks it has checked for latest firmware updates from either the cat5 cable (live connection) or the USB port. I know this sucks but fool the code and it will work.

Some good posts elsewhere on site helped me, so I thought I would post to return favor. Unf, since I had to register and all that, I can't find orig posts that helped.

Once you get it going, you'll love the movie! Its funnier and more "What the f**k" moments. Enjoy!

I got an email from Netflix saying that since some people are having playback issues with this title, they are taking it out of the rental lists for the time being.

bought this blu ray on sale at best buy for only 9 bucks!
like everyone else, got it home and it wouldn't play so after reading AVS forum, it was suggested to put an sd memory card in the player, so i just stuck in the one that came with my phone and voila! it played, hope it works for you all too

Wow, glad I found this site. I am pretty sure the husband was getting ready to throw our DVD player out the window since we bought Crank 2 and it WILL NOT PLAY on our system. So annoying, but glad I think I may have found a fix...that is if I can understand all the tech talk.

Man I thought it wouldn't play because it is one of the worst movies ever made, well except for Crank.

I had the same issue with the small window. I exchanged it then had the same problem again. Then I plugged a flash drive into my player and it works fine now. The flash drive has no other use to me than to let Crank 2 (and probably more movies in the future) play.

Great flick. They're both hilarious.
