Default Do AVCHD (DVD) disc play in HD through component cables on a Blu-ray player?

I have a Samsung P1600 and it plays AVCHD discs. My TV only has component inputs so any time I play a DVD disc the signal is dropped to 480p because DVD's are not allowed to be upconverted through component.

My question is that if I make an AVCHD disc and burn it on a DVD, will it play in High Definition or will the signal be dropped to standard definition? From what I understand, AVCHD discs can only be played on Blu-ray players so I would guess it would use the Blu-ray laser and it will be able to play it at 1080i. Or am I just wrong with this conclusion and the fact that it will be on a DVD mean that the player will output standard definition through the component cables?

I'm out of blank Dvd's right now and can't make a disc at the moment, I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a few discs. I just want to find out before I end up going through the entire process of making a AVCHD disc and finding out all the time is wasted because it won't play in HD.

if your player supports avchd dvd disc, it should play fine in its original HD format signal.
