Old guy with a newbie ????

Hi,
Maybe I'm a little obtuse, but I always have difficulty grasping these forums.
Is there a thread or a sticky somewhere that fully explains how to setup and use all the various forum settings? I have indeed read all the FAQ's and don't see what I need in there.

Examples:
Why are some thread titles in bold and others not?
What does the " thread starter do?"
What is the PROPER way to log in?
I frequently find myself to be logged in on several pages. Can't I log in and out only one time? If I forget or miss a page, will the site log me out ? Some times, I get the pop up telling me that I am not logged in when indeed I am.

The thread titles in bold usually denote threads that you haven't read or clicked on yet, it will put everything in bold that there have been posts in since your last visit to the forum.

Thread starter is the person who created the individual thread. If you are talking about the title "Thread / Thread Starter" on the individual sub forums, if you click on "Thread" it will put the threads in alphabetic order by title, if you click on "Thread Starter" it will put the threads in alphabetic order by thread starter's username

You should only have to log in once. You can keep track if you are logged in by checking the upper right hand corner of the page regardless of whether you are browsing the forum or another portion of the website. Make sure you click the option to 'remember me' when you log in

thanks for your help. I always find these forums to be somewhat confusing. All the various windows seem to look alike to me.

If I haven't logged in in several days, and come back, is there a way to tell what page # a particular thread is on. They seem to disappear off the first page and are hard to find again if there are alot of pages in the subject.
