HBO Renews TRUE BLOOD, ENTOURAGE and HUNG

In news that should shock exactly no one, HBO has announced pickups for its only three shows - “True Blood”, “Entourage” and “Hung”. They also confirmed that the seventh season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will premiere on September 20th.

I guess it’s not fair to say that “Hung”, “True Blood” and “Entourage” are the ONLY shows that the once preeminent cable network has going for it, but they’re certainly the only ones any one has been talking about… and, in the case of “Entourage”, most of that talk has been “Really? That show is still on?” All three series will return next summer - “Hung” for its second season and “True Blood” for its third. I’m not sure what season of “Entourage” we’re on at this point. I stopped caring somewhere in the “Medellin” period.

Good news about True Blood. I've been watching it regularly, and I actually got my wife interested in the show. Small miracles...

Entourage is fantastic!

I've only seen the first episode of True Blood, but I plan on getting to the rest of the series... eventually. TOO MUCH DAMN ENTERTAINMENT TO ENJOY AND NOT ENOUGH TIME TO ENJOY IT IN!

That's good to know.

I usually turn the lights back on and check my e-mail and get something to eat when Hung gets started. I find I don't really miss much.

I give it a shot because I like Tom Jane (ever since the movie Thursday)

I met him once at a chiller theater convention and he was drunk on a case of Heineken but he signed a copy of the Thursday DvD and a Publicity photo of the Punisher for me. Pretty cool guy all in all.

I also thought it was kinda funny that he updated the term "Damsel in distress" for the new millennium. He refers to that character type as "The B!tch in Peril."

Interesting, the way that this season has been going so far for Entourage it looked like they were going to end it.

It gets very good ratings, better than Entourage, although it has True Blood as it's lead-in. For a series to not get a second season from HBO (or Showtime) it'd have to do really poorly (John from Cincinnati) or not have anywhere to go plot wise (Tell Me You Love Me).

I never got into Entourage, watched the first 10 episodes of the first season when it first got started and just could not get into, nothing was funny.

Now True Blood, I've only watch the first 2 episodes, then sort of lost track of it. I love vampire stories but it seem True Blood kind of pass me by. I was wondering something and if anyone who watches the show can help out. If I were to watch a few episodes of what is currently on HBO, would I be totaly lost? I am not that crazy on getting the first season on BD without being sure I will actualy get pull into the series??

Probably - mostly lost. It's not a series that can be picked up in the middle. They do offer a quick recap at the beginning of each episode, but we are in season 2 and you won't know what is what.

I'd recommended to netflix the first disc of the first season, give it a go. I found that the series grows on you after a while. My wife hated it at first - I thought it was just OK, now we both watch it every week.

Hung cheats though for rating by being in between two popular shows and not much else on at that time.

Seriously I watch True Blood, then Hung is only 30 minutes so I watch it until Entourage comes on.

It's the only reason I keep watching, if it were any longer than 30 mins I would just finally give up.

Hung has gotten better, I didnt like the first couple but it has improved.

I like hung a lot more than curb, that show is f-n stupid. It is one gigantic jewish stereotype joke, thats the whole show...Maybe if I were jewish it be funny instead it reminds me of a half assed seinfield. Its really stale and just blah.

I recently opened my mind to weeds, and californication and I hated both of them the first time I watched it, but they grew on me, especially californication.

Good idea, don't have netflix but I know of another way to watch the first few episodes, I will decide what to do next

You are aware that Larry David co-created Seinfeld, right?

I think Curb is one of the funniest shows on TV. The interaction between Larry & Richard Lewis is hilarious. I'm very much looking forward to the new season of Curb.

And no I am not Jewish.
