First I was upset b/c Australia go a SD DVD box set of Mad Max, Road Warrior: Mad Max 2, and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. While we in the U.S. only get crappy single disc versions.
Now, I'm a little upset they released only Road Warrior on Blu-ray. Does any one else find it odd they release only Part 2 on Blu-ray? Why not start at the beginning? |

As far as I know Mel Gibson is not attached in any way possible to this film - has never talked to anyone or even thought about it for a millisecond. BUT...www.aintitcoolnews.com broke a story talking about the new Conan movie and who should direct it - a few people suggested Gibson. I think that'd be awesome.

Mad Max is rough to sit through I agree. Road Warrior is something completely different. I've always considered it more of a stand alone film and not part of a trilogy. And Beyond Thunderdome was just a waste of time. I only have The Road Warrior on VHS, so it's definitely worth the upgrade for me.

I agree, the second movie was much more popular. Night and day between the two films, but the first movie does tell the story of how he becomes who he is though.

I loved The first 2 Mad Max movies.I thought the 3rd was not as good as the first too. I hear they want to do a Fourth film now and I think ther calling it Fury Road? I think Mel saids he wont play Max again as Mel thinks hes to old.If they dont get Mel back I wonder who they would cast to play Max in the fourth film?

Thunderdome was a bit of a letdown although the wife likes that one. She likes Tina Turner. She does have great legs. The Road Warrior is the best of the bunch. If it had sold in large numbers I'm sure the others would follow. I would probably buy Thunderdome if it was available.

Rather silly of them, I thought, to release only one of the trilogy on Blu-Ray. While Mad Max is admittedly a much cruder production it is also gritty, gripping, and in the end extremely emotionally satisfying. I will wait until they wise up and release all three in a Blu-Ray set before I buy. Wonder how long I'll have to wait. :-)

The reason The Road Warrior was released first (aside from different studios owning the rights to the films) is that it's the more recognized film. When it was first released they changed the name from Mad Max 2 to The Road Warrior since most of the U.S. audience didn't even know there was a part 1. It definitely can stand alone as its own film since for years I never even knew that it was a sequel (granted I was only like 10 when I first saw it). Hopefully we'll get Mad Max on blu-ray soon. I could careless about thunderdome as I never enjoyed that movie. |

The Road Warrior is awesome on blu and is a prime example of what blu can do for an older film. The picture quality is stunning compared to DVD. I always wonder why there aren’t more comments about this while there are a ton of comments for other older movies transferred to BD. |
