I would highly recommend Kaua'i. Known as the garden isle. The Na Pali coastline is amazing.

We spent eleven days in a bungalow at the Hyatt Grand Resort on Poipu Bay for our 20th anniversary.

There really isn't a bad time to go. Extremely temperate climate.

You do realize you can island-hop on one of the regional airlines for almost nothing? We've stayed on four islands (Maui, Kaua'i, Hawai'i and Oahu), but our favorite way to go is to stay in one place and make day trips. We've done the volcano helicopter tour of the big island, etc. Heck -- tour a macadamia farm or a coffee plantation if you want to.

The helicopter tour and catamaran trip to Na Pali on Kaua'i are worth every dime.

I don't remember any height/weight restrictions. You might want to call the toll free number. As you can tell we've spent a good bit of time in Hawai'i. If you have questions, just pm me.

Everything on the Big Island is so far from each other. It's like a 5 hour drive to cross the island.

If you really want to relax, get a nice beachfront condo rental in Lanikai and you'll be fine. Once you get out of Waikiki Oahu is one of the best islands.

Besides going to a beach or luau in Hawaii, there's not really much to do. That is if you are going to O'ahu. Big Island, depeneding on where you go, you could go to the Lava Tube and see the crater. Even walk to the volcano. I forget the name of the place but I'd go to it here and there while on vacation or college. But doing the hike to the volcano can be painful if you don't watch out, since you are walking on hardened lava, so of it is sharp and one slip and you could be bleeding like crazy. I fell and cut my knee up while hiking and this was like where the safety zone ended so that was a long way back to the car.

But Oahu has the Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole, and Pearl Harbor. Plus Lanikai beach is one of the best in the world:

I had ill feelings towards Oahu because before I would only stay around the Waikiki area. If you venture out you discover it's one of the best islands in the chain.

Personally I prefer Maui though it isn't really the best for families. Not saying a family won't have a great time but the island is made for romance.

Kauai is the best if you are the outdoors type.

Oh, yes. I loved Kauai. Me and my folks stayed at this military area over there back in 2007. This was at the beach and there is this long and I mean long walk from the little shacks on the beach to any of the stores. Plus there was an outdoor theater that was there that would operate on the weekends. So I took to the outdoor theater on the Saturday and Sunday night I was there and the movies started at like 8 so it was getting dark but when the movies were finished around 11:30 to midnight, it would be pitch black. So on the walk back, there's not street lamps so you could look up and just see stars and lots of stars. It was very nice.

With, O'ahu, maybe it's because I spent 6 years of my life there.
