Default CBS eyeing O’Loughlin for Hawaii Five-O

I figured this remake was just another rumor, but it sure seems like they are moving ahead on it quickly. Maybe for this Fall?

Quote:
Will the third time be the charm for CBS and Alex O’Loughlin?

Undeterred by the back-to-back failures of Moonlight and Three Rivers, The Eye net is courting O’Loughlin to headline the freshly-greenlit remake of Hawaii Five-O, sources confirm.

“Talks are ongoing,” says the insider. “CBS really wants to do another series with him.”

The original Five-O — which starred Jack Lord as Det. Steve McGarrett — ran on CBS from 1968-1980. The update is being shepherded by Fringe writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as well as CSI: NY e.p. Peter Lenkov.

At press tour last week, CBS president Nina Tassler reiterated her strong desire to stay in business with O’Loughlin. “We love him,” she said, “and want him to stay around a long time.”

What do you think? Should CBS book O’Loughlin for Five-O?

I loved the original series, but ... much of the charm of the original series was the bad acting! I doubt that's planned for this show.

I suspect the new Five-O will be more like "CSI:Honolulu" than the original series. (If Hollywwod is going to create a "new" series, they should at least give it a new name.

Remake Hawaii 5-0, you gotta be kidding me. It's a classic don't tamper with it. Look what happened when they tried to remake Dragnet, Adam-12 and The Odd Couple. They all came and went. What's next a remake of My Mother The Car?

Well they did cast O'Laughlin so I'd assume they are sticking to the bad acting aspect.

O'Loughlin was great in Moonlight.

I've never seen Hawaii Five-O. A remake doesn't sound that interesting.

Hawaii Five-O was a product of a specific place and specific time. It was a great show, but any remake/reboot of the series would be in name only.

That's why I said a remake doesn't sound interesting. The original show could have been great for all I know.

Looks like O'Laughlin still hasn't learned his lesson on CBS and wants to go for 3 cancellations.

Hawaii 5-0 is one of my favorite shows ever. The idea of a movie sounds dumb. Anybody rememebr Starsky & Hutch and The Mod Squad??

Jack Lord must be rollling in his grave!

"Book 'em Danno" to the first studio executvie who greenlights this idea

"Lost" may be ending its storied run in May, but Daniel Dae Kim is hoping he can stick around in Hawaii.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Lost" star has landed one of the lead roles in CBS' pilot update of "Hawaii Five-0."

Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, stepping into Kam Fong's shoes from the original island cop classic.

The new "Hawaii Five-0" comes from "Fringe" co-creators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, plus "CSI: NY" veteran Peter Lenkov.

The trade notes that while the show's lead role -- Detective Steve McGarrett -- has yet to be cast, "Moonlight" and "Three Rivers" star Alex O'Loughlin has been in talks to take over the part made famous by Jack Lord.

Kim has played Jin Kwon for six seasons on "Lost." His prior credits included "24," "Angel" and the miniseries "The Andromeda Strain." Source
