Default Flip Sided DVD question

Ok so they made those stupid DVDs where widescreen was one side and full screen was the other. I have a question about those. My great aunt and uncle bought a widescreen tv and want me to buy used movies for them.

They won't pay close attention to the disc so If I put a sticker on the full screen side of the disc that said "Other Side Up", would that interfere with playing the 16:9 side of the disc?

No it shouldn't cause a problem. I worked at blockbuster a few years back and some dumb employees once put a bunch of the anti-theft stickers on double sided discs. Never caused a problem playing them (except the side with the sticker on it )

I say you'll be fine.

Only problem with putting stickers on discs is that it will unbalance the disc. Even tho the sticker barely weighs anything it is enough for a sensitive disc drive to feel the difference. Everything will play fine and it will for a while, but it will put unneeded stress on the player and over time will cause damage.

Yeah but I'm talking about 2, maybe 3, Warner Brothers films. So not worried about the stress on the player. Thanks

I hate when they put stickers and such on double sided DVDs. At the military base where I used to live, the video store there would write on the discs with sharpes. Even on double sided discs. I had bought two DVDs from there that had the sharpe marker used on it; The Reaping and the US Remake of Shutter. With The Reaping, it had it on written on the Full Screen side so I was like; "Don't care since it's full screen". Then with Shutter, it was on the widescreen side and I took that back to the store and got my $5 back.

No it's true.

Instead use a marker of some kind to mark the hub area of the correct side. I'd think about doing a metallic one so its shiny and easy for them to see
