USA Anybody buying NAD electronics stuff these days?

Hi,

First time poster here, been looking around reading posts for the past week. I am currently going through my HT stuff and updating.............I went from a 27" Sony tube to a new Samsung LN52B750 last week...........

I have a 1990's vintage NAD AV-716 receiver which doesn't have HDMI anything so that is my next piece of equipment to upgrade.........then a Blue Ray player.

My question to you all is...........is anyone buying NAD equipment these days?...........back when I bought my receiver NAD was about as good as a person could afford...........but, I'm not seeing much chatter here or other forums about NAD stuff these days...........

I know NAD stuff is pretty expensive............is it still worth it?

If not what do you think I should replace my non HDMI NAD receiver with?

Before I bought my NAD I had a Marantz receiver back in the 70's.........that piece is still being used in my garage today..........

So, what do you HT pros say?

I would look at other companies. Marantz, Pioneer/Pioneer Elite, Denon, Onkyo/Integra, Yamaha.
Cambridge Audio has a new one, the Azur 640R V2 AV receiver coming out soon.

Hi Johnny and welcome to the forums! To answer your question-YES, prople are still buying NAD products and is absolutely worth it IMO. Unfortunately, NAD and the like do not receive much attention in this forum. The reasons being; that we have a lot of new comers to the hobby, people play it safe and just get what their friends and neighbors have and/or they have the mentality that NAD and products like it are not within reach even though its highly comparable in price as a Pioneer elite and/or Denon.
The question that begs to be asked is which one is more important to you, audio or video and performance vs bells and whistles? Reason why I asked is that the NAD will sound better than a Denon or Pioneer/Elite but mmight not be as loaded with features.
