Default Calling all Onkyo owners..

I recently bought an Onkyo 706 model receiver and within 3 months it broke. I took it in for warranty repair and just got it back. At first it seemed to be working properly. Ive yet to run the Audessy settings, but while using my X-Box, I decided to try and adjust the rear speaker settings. I got a "not available" message on the receiver. I tried changing the listening mode and got the same message. I double checked the XBOX audio settings and verified it was on DD5.1. All i could get was direct stereo. The receiver display shows only the front mains on. I'm running PCM from the XBOX to the receiver. So I switched to my DirecTV which is HDMI. I tried an HD channel which is Dolby Digital. I try changing listening modes and it cycles through all of them. Despite being in "all channel" mode, the receiver display only shows the front mains on. All speakers are giving off sound, yet the display only shows front mains on. I try switching to DD mode, but it never displays. While watching TV or the XBOX, all the display shows is "HDMI through". As I said, when using XBOX, it wont allow me to change to any listeninig mode or adjust speaker levels. While watching TV, I can change listening modes, but not the speaker levels. To me, its seems like the receiver is still jacked up. Unless of course Ive made an error with some particular setting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
