Default PS3 games on HDTV

I don't have a PS3 yet but I'm planning on buying one. What I want to know is if the games and Blu-ray movies will still look good on 720p. I'm not good with TVs and so I'd really appreciate a clarification. Thanks.

Yes. 720p is considered HD. You will get an HD picture.

Most of the games I have seen have a maximum resolution of 720p. (It's upconverted for 1080 sets.)

My TV is capable of 1080i but I think 720p is its native so it might be better to set it up as 720p.

Find the model number for it and research the specs through google or post it here.

Most 720p displays actually have a resolution of 1366x768 but also accept a 1080i input which the tv scales and deinterlaces to 768p.

All but one of my games are 720p, and they look damn good. Virtua Tennis 3 is the only one I have that runs 1080p, and there are a few others.

Even if 720p is all you have, it definitely will look sharp.

yea 720p is considered HD, but personally i would go with a 1080p set, Because i am hoping that when these big seller games come out this xmas they will be in 1080p. Besides you can also watch the bluray movies in full HD as well.

Ok, so my model number is KF-50E200A and I think it's native resolution is 1366 x 768 like you say, but I'm not sure. If so, would it be better to put my PS3 at 720p max, or should I just leave it to 1080i?

Why don't you try both and see what looks better to you? It largely depends how well your tv downscales and deinterlaces 1080i.

Well, I did try both but I couldn't see a noticeable difference. Maybe my eyes are not yet trained to the HD wonders.

Really it depends on the size of your TV and how far you plan on sitting from it.

If you are getting something under 50" really 720p will do just fine for you. However if you are getting something 50" and above and plan on sitting within 10 feet, you will notice the 1080p difference.

I don't have 1080p, only 720p and 1080i. But thanks anyway, you were a great help.
