Default Good HDTV for old video games?

While I continue to mill over the economics, I did some homework today: field tests of some upper end TVs. Back when I got my first HDTV, I learned quickly that some screens don't do well with older material. I had games that lagged due to rescaling of images not in native resolution, rendering them unplayable. Now I know to test the games at the store before buying. First test is Mega Man: running to the ledge and trying to jump. If that goes well, we bring out the ultimate test in Space Channel 5, a rhythm game.

While I've been examining the outstanding Pioneer plasmas, today's results were less than encouraging: Bad lag on Mega Man using the Pro151FD. By contrast, I had perfect results on Mega Man and Space Channel using a Panasonic plasma screen. While I like the Pioneer best for overall PQ, the Panasonic was clearly more fit for gaming, and still an excellent picture.

If anyone knows of a Pioneer TV that works for older games, I'd like to hear about it. For now, I think it wiser to sacrifice some of the PQ for overall usefulness.

Thoughts?
