Default Do I have a good HDTV?

So I have owned a Toshiba Regza 42HL67 for 6 months now and I really enjoy it. Plays my hi-def movies and games, and looks great doing it. I got it based on Consumer Reports review of it back in January. My question is that it is a 720p set and CR said that it will still look as good as a 1080p set due to the screen size, 42". I just wanted folks opinions as to the quality of this HDTV.

The part about looking as good as a 1080p set is pretty ignorant on the part of Consumer Reports because they're not saying what they're comparing it to and what aspect of the picture they're talking about; resolution? contrast ratio? interlacing performance? 3:2 performance?

CR are great for things like industry repair rate - you don't want a model that has lots of issues with it right? Keep opinions not backed up with factual evidence as opinion.

Some 720p sets can be better than 1080p sets, some 1080p sets are better than 720p sets. However where resolution is concerned you will be resolving more detail out of a 1080p set (on average, this doesn't account for poor motion resolution performance) than you will out of a similar 720p set at the right distance, which in your case could be anywhere from 4-7ft or greater if your visual acuity is excellent.

this is really contingent upon your viewing distance.

Well CR compared this set with others in the 40-42" category, including the 1080p brother of my set, the 42HL167. CR concluded that the PQ was as good on mine as the 1080p set, but that the viewing angle was significantly better on mine. Can't remember the rest.

Man, you got a terrible HDTV! I'll take that Toshiba HD mess off your hands. I'll pay for shipping of course. I want to show people what a terrible looking HDTV looks like. You don't need to suffer any longer.
