Default PS3 History.

Here is a few posts from years ago through to now. Just look at how wrong we were, or how right we were. The rumors and the outcomes. Its quite funny really.

My understanding of the situation is that the UMD's used in the PSP are a seperate format created by Sony. I'm sure that they would not want to share any of their profits with the Blu-Ray group in terms of liscensing fees for the format. Obviously Sony has announced that the PS3 will use BD-Roms and will play pre-recorded Blu-Ray discs. I have also heard that there may well be a newer version of the PS2 that also plays pre-recorded Blu-Ray discs. Whether this will be an newer version of the PSX or what I don't know. However, I'm 99% sure that the the disc PSP wwill use is not a small Blu-Ray disc. Right.

1) Most Games on PS2 and Xbox are on DVD.... Xbox games are on DVD since day one. PC games also come on DVD. I highly think that X2 will either use a HD-DVD format but it will be properitery. I think that only PS3 will have Blu-ray and maybe N5. Right and Wrong.

Bad news for PS3?

On the japanses website Zakzak was written that the developers would pass for PS3, in favor of Xbox 360. Automatic translating services on the net can hardly decypther what the text really says so its unclear if it is a rumour or reality. Because the delopment coasts for PS3 are too high - these go up to 20 million dollar - the devopers would only go for Xbox 360. Also, PS3 will be more expensive than the MS console. While MS will make losses to their console (some 100 dollar every sold console) it would be a loss of billions to the company, had Sony to reorganise their comany to gain profit again. It would make Sony unable to compete to MS.

The only way we as consumers can be sure Sony will integrate the Blue-ray disc hardware into the PS3 is to tell them how we feel. If they see the support for it in numbers, then there is always a better chance.

That is why I propose a petition -starting now- to have the PS3 include the BRD hardware into its next generation console. All those other gamers out there know what I mean! We want the best graphics, sound, and gameplay. And with the BRD format, not only will Sony upscale all the competetion, but lead the way into the future of technology.

Who's with me??? Right, But so wrong.

PlayStation 3 might be delayed until 2007

Sony may delay the release of the PlayStation 3 console until 2007 if right conditions prevail, GameSpot writes.

According to Wedbush Morgan Securities Sony might delay the release if Microsoft drops the price of the 1st generation Xbox to no lower than $99, and if the Xbox 360 console is not a huge success at launch. In that case Sony might drop the price of PlayStation 2 to $99, which would still bring the company profit.

The reasoning behind the strategy is that dropping the PS2 price would disrupt the Xbox 360 launch. In that scenario Microsoft would be selling both the Xbox (at $99) and Xbox 360 (at $299.99?) at loss, while Sony would still be making profit with PS2.

It is quite unlikely that Xbox 360 would do so bad at launch that Sony could afford delaying the launch of PS3. Then again the plan could save Sony alot of money. It is estimated that Sony could lose more than $1 billion on PS3 hardware.

no chance of that happening. none!!!
PS3 compares favourably to xbox and it's sony, come on, they have reputation and PS3 is currently their biggest product.
I think they are already playing it safe by planing it for next spring, may-june probably Wrong.

I agree, PS3 will be out by next June at the latest. Sony doesn't just have PS3 on the line, they've got a new format in Blu-ray that's on the line. Having PS3 come out sooner will do wonders in making sure Blu-ray is the replacement to DVD. Sony will take the initial loss on PS3 hardware knowing that they'll come out way ahead in the end. Wrong.

With a later launch, Sony has more time to meet the high demand for the console. Unlike Microsoft, I don't think that Sony will have a shortage of PS3's to hand out. A console shortage is a nightmare to both Sony and the gamers. No one wants a shortage of PS3's Right.

Worldwide release in November 2006...allthough I don't think we'll see that much PS3s in our shops here in Europe Right.

Well thats it. I just thought it would be funny to bring this back.
