Default Cablevision Intermittent Video Issue via HDMI

Hey all...my apologies if this is an existing topic (I searched and couldn't find it).

Does anyone know about the ongoing issue with intermittent video via HDMI with multiple cable companies?

My setup is as follows:
Cable Box: SA 8300HD DVR on Cablevision/Optimum iO
AVR: Denon AVR-789

The issue is that intermittently the video/audio goes black for about a second and then comes back. Originally I thought it was the HDMI port on my receiver, and switched it to another input. At first it seemed to fix the problem, but the issue returned.

After searching the web, I've seen numerous posts and comments about this issue dating back to 2005. It seems this issue has never been properly resolved.

Anyone have knowledge or a way to resolve the issue?

Thanks!

I didn't consider that...the convenience of one cable was enticing.

If I don't get add'l feedback, I'll certainly try that.

just switch the box, better yet the company!! IO sucks..lol.. I had a problem with some of their HD boxes. I had to replaced them. both time, they would just restart on their own in the middle of me watching tv.

does it happen whenever it wants to? or when surfing through channels? Also, I would say it might be the hdmi cable. Since they just sit there without clips, it could just be very loose. a little wiggle could cause the blackout.

I would have them switch out the box first. If you cant get a resolution just use component. HD cable still only broadcasts in 1080i so you won't be losing anything.

Default had the exact same issue

I had the exact same issue about 6months back, was right around the time that IO came out with there automatic upscaling meaning if a channel was aviable in hd the box would show it in hd didnt have to be on specific hd channel. After swapping 4 diffrent HDMI cables of various brands monster momo price and one that came with my direct tv setup i contacted cable they said to try running it directly to the tv which i did still had issue. They sent out two techs one of which the descibed as a master tech, after 4 hours and 3 different boxes the issue still persisted, there final answer was and i quote "cablevision boxes are not compatible with hdmi cables" they hooked up the compenent cables and left. needless to say I am now a happy customer of FIOS

ha.. excellent!! I'm now a Directv customer!! They told my cousin that same thing that their boxes weren't compatible with HDMI. THEN WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING THAT CONNECTION? lol.. I went over and fixed it for him.

I'm considering trying FiOS, I just hate that I can't add an external hard drive to the FiOS boxes. Plus, the Home Media DVR won't stream HD to other rooms (pointless feature w/o HD IMO).
