Default Tarantino = Overrated??

Is Tarantino really that good? Very overrated IMO... Besides Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.... Why do you think he is overrated? Why do you think he is so great?

I don't like his style as a filmmaker, many others do, but there's something about it that I just don't find appealing. I don't think I've seen one film that he's done that I care for. Pulp Fiction got shutoff and returned to the rental place at 20 minutes into it...lol
Deathproof stunk, too. Good thing he merely appeared in "Planet Terror" and even then his appearance was pure crap.

I mostly hate this guy's movies. Pulp Fiction I enjoyed and I liked Jackie Brown well enough, but I did not enjoy Reservoir Dogs, hated Kill Bill 1 & 2, and couldn't even finish Deathproof.

If he never made another movie again I would probably celebrate. Maybe he will change my mind some day, but as of now... he's not my style.

he has made some of the best movies from recent times imho.

Resevoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill
Kill Bill 2
Natural Born Killers

All greats in their own rights

always controversial, his movies always come together really well. I like him! just wish he would quit the cameo roles

I loved both Kill Bill's, Pulp Fiction, and True Romance thats it. Thought Death Proof was alright. Reservior Dogs is overrated. Never watched Jackie Brown or Natural Born Killers. To me he's like a white Spike Lee. Love a couple of things of his but not anything else

I'd call True Romance a Tony Scott movie (Quentin wrote the screenplay) and Natural Born Killers (again Q wrote the screenplay and I read he didn't care for the way the movie turned out) an Oliver Stone movie, but maybe that's splitting hairs. His over-rated-ness came from Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction & Jackie Brown, and I gotta admit I really like those three films.

yea i just watched resevoir dogs this weekend and really liked it. But other than this and Pulp, i really do not enjoy his movies AT ALL.... Kill Bill is just overdramatic and just nonsense to me... part 2 was even worse... Death Proof would be awesome if it was meant to be a comedy... buuuuut its not

He never stops until he gets it exactly how he wants. So that the viewers can see everything in his perspective. And I personally really like the direction he takes in movies because it's always unique and always has a classic feel. Each of his flicks gets a point or two across and the end result of his approach is quite satisfying.

ya see... i had this argument with a friend this weekend.... Unique doesnt necessarily mean good.... and in Tarantinos case... usually doesnt equate to good IMO

But him not being good is completely an opinion to you... And some people such as myself. Find his uniqueness great and i think he makes good movies, i will admit though he makes some crappy movies in between the good. But thats why opinions are great

I find it amusing. Not saying you OP, but a lot of people bash fanboys for talking so much about how much they like someone, or a certain movie. But so many people go out of their way to bash movies its even more ridiculous than fanboys.

He is definitely not for everyone. You either get him or you don't. He has a certain respect for the process and art of movie making that lacks these days. I easily prefer his movies over most of the crap that is crammed down our throats by the movie studios.

I loved Pulp and Dogs. My all time favorite of his is True Romance (he wrote the script). Hid newer stuff is good but not great. I think that his best movies since those three was Grindhouse. His stuff in-between has been good, but not great.

He is kind of a, one-of-a-kind, rip-off artist (In a good way).

+1 I dislike his style as a filmmaker, I completely disliked his movies, I don't think I've ever been able to sit through a full length any of his titles.

Movies are art. Art is purely 100% subjective. If I love it... that doesn't make it good art. If you hate it..... that doesn't make it bad art.
