My girlfriends bday is coming up and I would like to buy whichever is best. I am going tomorrow to pick up my 65" V10 panny at bb after work and would like to pick one of these games up while I am there. She enjoyed playing at a party last weekend and they had both. I couldn't tell a diff as I didn't play much. Which one is better and why?

RB2
Both are games where you hit things at certain times because something comes down the screen. Let's take a look at the differences. - DLC: The Rockband franchise has songs coming out every week and has had for a couple of years. Every week may not be a winner but there's enough to buy and enough coming out to make your credit card hurt. With GH there's a new disc (GH:A, GH:M, GH:WT, GH:SH, GH:5, BH, GH:.5VH) coming out every 3-4 months. - Exportability: All but three songs from RB1 can be loaded into RB2 for a whopping $5. The news today was that the setlist from Lego Rockband will be the same way. Rockband: The Beatles will be different and the songs won't export/transfer because that's the way it has to be. Sorry. - Price: I think Best Buy has the guitar/mic/drums/game pack of RB2 for $99 right now which is a steal. If you can't find it, Wal Mart has the same price. If I was playing ANY music game I'd want the RB2 drums and RB2 Strat, so $99 for the kit is theft. - Graphics: Not a lot of difference, but I can see where the kick drum is supposed to be played on RB2 (yellow) better than GH5 (white, like the bars to seperate measures). |

I agree with RB2... unless you're beatles fans, then maybe that game.
Rock Band 2 like the others said, has new music tracks coming out every week, and all the songs from rock band 1 can be imported. and according to the guy above me, all the lego Rock band songs will be importable, which is really sweet news to me... you can probably rent the game and load up those 40-50 songs too. The best thing to do I suppose is look at which songs each game has to offer... and go with whatever game has the songs you like best because in the end the gameplay is fairly equal. more or less. I simply prefer rock band because I like the songs better (especially some of the DLC) and once you import Rock Band 1 (very easy to do) you'll have over 100 songs to choose from |

If she sings, Rock Band 2 without a doubt. I now have both games.
I just got done playing GH5 for about five hours (and I normally play RB2 quite often). It's "better" than previous Guitar Hero games on vocals, but still doesn't hold a candle to the flexibility of Rock Band 2. And yes, the disparity in song catalogues is huge. |

Go to rockband.com for more info. It is a very active community and any question you might ask already has a thread so the search is valuable. |

Rock Band 2, because not only the notes are pretty accurate, the online play is fare more superior, and so are the character customizations and the non-linear Tour mode. Plus, you can export about 55 out of 58 RB1 songs to RB2.

def RB2, something else i didnt see mentioned from skimming the above posts, you can buy RB2, then rent the first RB game disc, and import all but i think 3 of the songs from the first disc for like $5 from the PSN store
if you are looking for an enjoyable experience more importantly than challenging, then RB2 is definitely it, not that RB2 isnt challenging on many of its songs, because it is, its just that playing GH games is always frustrating to me, because i know a lot of the songs they feature, and know kind of how the notes SHOULD go, but the way the songs are charted is not accurate to the way the song actually goes, so if you find a song you like and are really stoked to play, then the notes dont sync up like they should, it can make that song a LOT less fun to play and kind of damage your experience |
