I've never seen it, but previews seemed a little strange. I don't think it'll be a blind buy!

Will have to buy it sight unseen, but I'm a big admirer of Taymor's previous films, and a huge Beatles fan, so it's bound to be a joy on Blu-ray.

Preordered on day one.

Yea, I never saw the movie and I've always wanted to watch it in theaters but never got the chance. I listened to the soundtrack and it was awesome, I think I'm going to get this with Hairspray.

Renter...

seems like a wetdream via The Beatles to me....

I never liked The Beatles so it would be more of a nightmare here.

The soundtrack is great, but it's probably best to rent or check out the film before buying. I loved it (and so do many others), but some people really don't care for the film.

It may not be the strongest musical in terms of character and plot, but the music is fantastic, and the images are made to be seen in 1080p. Will definitely be adding this to the collection.

Bought the BD today It was a blind buy, well sort of. I grew up during the 60s and I literally thrived on Beatles songs. So I prettly well knew that I would like it. I wasn't disappointed! Seeing the Beatles songs skillfully crafted together to form a story was quite creative. For me it bought back fond memories of those days. Kudos to Julie Taymor for masterfully directing this fine film.

No spoilers here. However, I will say this. It was quite refreshing to see and hear the talented young actors and actresses actually singing the Beatles songs in their roles as Jude, Lucy, Max, Sadie, et al who had not experienced those times first hand. Under Julie's direction, these young people's performance was top notch and so satisfyingly real that that era was bought back to life.

The PQ was fantastic in 1080p, one you won't want to miss. As for AQ, I can only comment on the lossy DD. My player (Sony BDP-S301) does not decode Dolby TrueHD I was somewhat disappointed that LPCM 5.1 - 7.1 tracks were not available. Nevertheless, the ole DD 3/2 track was still quite impressive music wise. The dialogue was nice, and not muffled like lossy DD sometimes is. Perhaps my player was decoding the DD TrueHD core.

If you like musicals, I highly recommend buying this BD.

amazing movies for all age groups. i'm 28 and my beatles memories start from seeing my parents listening to their music and one day i realized that i was hooked also.

the visuals are quite stunning and how could you complain about a bono and selma hayak cameo?

Unfortunately I can't agree on the PQ point, but I do agree on the "very addicting" part.

I was planning on doing a blind buy for this movie but not for sure. I wanted to see it in theaters but never got the chance. It looked interesting to me, reminded me of Moulin Rouge and I Loved that movie. So does anybody think if I liked that movie then i will like Across the Universe? I read the reviews and i will probably end up buying it, just let me know. thanks for the help?
