Awesome equipment day!

Hey all. Had a very productive day for new equipment. I had originally purchased a Harman Kardon AVR 247 that wouldn't display 1080p properly, so I returned it. I was originally going to get a Sony STR-DG1000, but as fate would have it, when we went to Best Buy, it was $799.99, not the $679.99 that was advertised on bestbuy.com, and they wouldn't price match it, even for my g/f who works there. For some reason, she got no discount on the receiver. So, discouraged, we came home. Best Buy had gotten a shipment of Xbox 360 Elites, and my regular unit was having a couple of issues, so I decided to swap mine out and pay the difference for the Elite. So we drove across town to the Best Buy we both used to work at to catch up with some people, and exchanged the 360. While there, we noticed the Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH, the first receiver I've seen with HDMI 1.3, DTS HD Master Audio . . . you know the drill. It was priced at $1000, so we figured that, even with her discount, it'd be a bit out of our price range, but we checked anyway. That SOB was $574 Of course, the BBY we were at didn't have any, so we drove across town to pick one up, but it's ours now! So far, very nice. Easy setup, great sound, and I can FINALLY run my PS3 at 1080p without white sparklies all over the place. I was getting worried about being outdated with a new AVR without 1.3, but now I feel like I'm set for at least a little while. With the 360 Elite I've got 1080p/HDMI goodness everywhere!


After we went and got the receiver we went and saw Transformers. Awesome movie. It would have been a bit better had all of the Autobots save Optimus not been a commercial for GM. That sucks for Jazz . . . once a Porsche 911, knocked down to a Pontiac Solstice. What a downgrade!
