Superheroes That Deserves Another Chance For a Re-make.

BEFORE POSTING A REPLY IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE ON WHY THE SUPERHERO OF YOUR CHOICE SHOULD BE ENTITLED FOR A RE-BOOT, OR WHY YOU WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ORIGINAL.

Interesting article I found regarding giving/rebooting Superheroes flicks from scratch. Thought it would interesting to share, and check out your insights about this.

Lets start: Courtesy of Cinematical.

1.Spawn:

The !997 version of this film was a disaster. The Hero Spawn in the Comics is pretty cool character with more to him than meets the eye.

FAULTS IN THE MOVIE:

With the 1997 Mcfarlane version of Spawn carried many flaws and mistakes fans had a problem with.
A) Story was somewhat cheesy, I think the makers of the film tried to push it be a serious one. But Failed.
B) Action Sequences carried out a lot of Gun Usages, which isn't true and unfair to who Spawn is.
C) Graphics: Who am I kidding its 1997 the technology with there but wasn't pushed to the extreme. The Mask came out perfectly and believe it or not the Original Christopher Reeve's version of Superman had better graphics than this movie.

Now that our Superhero Tournament is nearing the home stretch, I've been looking at some of the 'losers' and thinking about all the costumed heroes that have fallen by the wayside over the years. But then I remembered that reboot fever is alive and well in Hollywood, and the latest victim is Todd McFarlane, who's apparently working on a new Spawn script according to various reports. (But isn't he always working on a new Spawn script?)

Considering how beloved Spawn is in the world of comic books, it really is a shame that he wound up with such a crappy movie -- and if the Rotten Tomatoes rating is any indication, time has not improved this flick in the eyes of fans. Luckily for us then that McFarlane will be starting from scratch, and by the sounds of things, thankfully, there will be far fewer fart jokes. McFarlane told Coming Soon's sources, "The story has been in my head for 7 or 8 years. The movie idea is neither a recap or continuation. It is a standalone story that will be R-rated. Creepy and scary."

McFarlane has only just started writing, so it could be some time before we see a finished product -- but, when we do, it's going to be a brand new Spawn. McFarlane told CS, "the tone of this 'Spawn' movie will be for a more older audience. Like the film 'Departed.'" Okay, that might be a bit of a strange comparison, but then again, I'm all for taking superheroes a little more seriously.

2.The Phoenix:

I wanted to see more of who the Phoenix is, sure I know a lot about her abilities, still the last X-Men 3 movie failed to satisfy the hunger. What Bryan Singer did with X-Men, and X-Men 2 was perfect. There was a character development in both movies. It took its time to tell the story. However, not sure if this is Brett Ratner's fault the 3rd one seemed dull.

FAULTS IN THE MOVIE:

A) The Movie felt as if it was rushed, unfair to the series. Major Characters were off-ed too soon

I think Makers should have taken time with it.
B) The ending after the credit I am not sure what was this all about

What was the message intended in this?.

I couldn't make a list about maligned superheroes without mentioning Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix in Ratner's X3. I have a devoted X-Men fan in my life, and let me tell you -- for him, the mishandling of The Dark Phoenix storyline has become the stuff of nightmares. I may not be an expert, but even I knew that Ratner managed to blow one of the biggest story lines in comic book history ... and that ain't good.

3.Catwoman:

To simply put this: Catwoman 2004-05 was raped. Terrible acting from an academy award winner (Halle Berry, I expected better than what I have seen). Bad Direction, and story telling. Whose to blame for this shameful waste of time and money. Whatever happened to the Catwoman we all know from Batman Returns.

FAULTS IN THE MOVIE:
A) Need I mention how terrible it was.
B) Cheesy storytelling.
C) Its a WB movie, thought they would at least spend the money on this making the graphics decent. Still everything about this movie was just terrible.

I like to pretend that the 2004 flick starring Halle Berry battling an evil cosmetics giant never happened, so for me, Catwoman has never had her own movie. Now, granted, Catwoman only exists because of Batman, but that doesn't mean she has to stay trapped in Gotham. How about giving Selena Kyle her own universe for awhile? Heck, why not make her a bit of an anti-hero? It's about time we got a few shades of gray in our lady heroes in the movies, and Catwoman would be the perfect start.

4.Electra:

Okay, point given Electra is a tricky one, since what happened with the Daredevil. The Electra 2005 version was decent in my opinion, the problem for the movie is that how do you follow up an Electra movie after Ben Affleck's Daredevil.

FAULTS WITH THE MOVIE:

A) I think the story was told way too soon. it should have been given a time after the unusual success of a bad movie (Daredevil). Thats all I could think of this one movie in particular. I actually thought it was ok for a popcorn flick.

Despite her time on Alias, I never really bought Jennifer Garner as an action hero. She just seems to lack a certain edge. Frank Miller's creation is one of the most beloved female superheroes in comic book history, and let's face it: that 2005 spin-off was embarrassing. To be fair, it didn't exactly get an auspicious beginning with Daredevil, but once again, there is plenty to work with. Just as long as you get a gal who can handle herself with a bladed sai we should be in business.

5.Superman Returns:

Coming from Bryan Singer, this film had potentials. It could have been better, it was okay but for some reason the premise failed to impress me.
In my own opinion Bryan Singer should have started from Scratch rather than continue.

FAULTS WITH THE MOVIE:

A) It shouldn't have been a continuation of the previous ones. (Some of you may disagree with me on this but remember It was given this title SUPERMAN RETURNS) It had no connection with the previous ones.
B) I still understand how Lois Lane

[Show spoiler]doesn't recognize who clark kent is, she found out who he is in the 2nd movie. To add on to this Superman has a kid, and still Lois doesn't know who Clark Kent is that just doesn't make sense.

C) The Story line felt more like something of a conflict from within, to explain it better it was a massive big drama between Clark and Lois.

This may seem to be an odd choice considering the Man of Steel will probably get another movie sooner or later, but I think we can probably agree that Bryan Singer's Superman wasn't exactly what we were hoping for. For me, all Singer managed to do was remind me of how kick-ass Donner's film was in the first place. So maybe this time around we can get something just a little more original. It wasn't that Singer made a terrible movie, it just wasn't his movie, and I think Kal-El deserves a little bit better than that, don't you?

6.The Phantom:

Surprised no one mentioned The Phantom I remember the movies back in the days. I think this one deserves a place in this list.

Its been a while since I have seen the films IS THERE ANY FAULTS THAT SHOULD BE ADDED HERE ABOUT THE MOVIE.

Superman seems to be the trickiest one of the lists included. It seems as if there is this an invisible line that don't want to cross, in other words its hot territory.

7. Ghost Rider
It could have been better, if they'd stuck to one basic fact: Skullhead doesn't go after lame generic Buffy-knockoff demons...He goes after the GUILTY.
(Which we got a little of in the middle of the film, but too little and too misdirected.

8. Rogue

So, Bryan Singer had gone back through the 90's cartoon before directing X2, but had apparently skipped over the "Wolverine vs. Deathstrike" episode that explained the whole canon...Before giving us a fairly meaningless fan-service "Cool, it's a babe in a Matrix outfit and she's Asian!" who fights Logan for literally no reason at all.

Word has it that Fox wants to do a X-M:W followup in Japan--We wonder why. Too bad they already wrote themselves into missing their own train for tying up more canonical backstory about just what the sam-scratch was going on in the last half-hour of X2 in the first place.

pretty cool list you got. Lady Deathstrike in particular her connection to William Stryker.

X-MEN are my favorite comic book characters...so picking them would be an easy choice for me. I believe Fox is planning a new XMEN movie so I will pick some thing else. But before I go, I would like to see a story focusing on Rogue aquiring her super strength and ability to fly which would obviously involve Ms. Marvel.

Also, I would like to see another Fantastic 4 movie. Bring on "The Skrulls" storyline.

Daredevil deserves another chance.

Superman definitely deserves another movie...and quick!

Got to go with The Shadow. When Alec Baldwin made the movie it was ok IMO. The way they make these movies now they can make a better one.

Silver Surfer

Generation X from the Tv movie.

I think a lot of the superhero movies such as FF, superman & X-men will get re-booted. The 1st two would be more immediate with X-men being milked by Fox with as many origin spin-offs as possible.

Eventually in our lifetime every superhero film will be rebooted with many later probably going to be sci-fi & futuristic.

I personally look forward to it if done justice.

Zack snyder is my top choice for ANY superhero film if reboots are in order, considering what a good job he'd done so far.

A frank miller, Zack snyder futuristic batman would be awesome.

here's my take on this thread guys !

1- superman- i agree that this movie was not all that it was suppose to be, it was simply decent. all i hope for the future is for superman to fight someone who will be difficult to defeat, i'm tired of seeing lex luthor in every superman movie in fact i'm tired of seeing the same bad guys in every superhero movie.

2- catwoman-electra-supergirl- in all the superhero i've seen in my life the male superhero always do something daring and heroic in order to save the world from a great threat but with every female superhero the writers always have them doing stupid thing like: taking down an evil cosmetics giant (catwoman), saving a brat (elektra), or fighting a witch (supergirl) if the power that be in hollywood want us to love woman superhero they need to give them better storyline.

How this character has been mismanaged as much as it has is beyond ridiculous. I know why it has happened, but for Warner Bros to have taken the most recognizable superhero in the world and basically made him invisible to a generation of film fans is just mind boggling.

quite to the point. never really realized this whole differences with Male (superheroes VS ) Females. i think you are actually right about this.

remember money always comes into play. I got another problem with another superhero that should be addressed.
