Default Is my Sony S300 defective?

Just got my Sony S300 on Saturday. So far so good---LOVE the PQ and the AQ. I only have 6 Blu-ray movies right now, but I've submitted my rebate for the 5 free ones and have about 8 on order with Amazon.

That said, I'm a little leery that my unit may be defective. I understand that the first time you power it on, it takes 90 seconds to start up, per the manual. But then the manual says that future power-ons will be "much faster".

Still, it seems to take FOREVER for it to turn on. If I press the power button to turn it on, the little Blu-ray light (cosmetic? it's in the middle of the player front) comes on, but I don't get an immediate "Power On" on the display. Sometimes I have to press the button 2-3 times before that happens. Or am I supposed to wait for this?

Same thing if I try to turn on the player by pressing the Open button so I can load a movie. I'm used to my SD DVD player, which, if I turn the unit on by pressing Open, it INSTANTLY powers on and slides the tray out.

Are BD players supposed to be like this? Is it needing to "boot up" when I turn it on from a cold start?

Thanks in advance!
