Cool Sapphire Series Commercials on Braveheart Blu -- 480p?!?!

Whose bright idea was it to put a commercial for the Paramount's Sapphire Series in 480p on the Blu-ray releases?!?!

I never understand using 480p for these commercials because they make the movies look SO HORRIBLE! Why not have the commercial in 1080p so you can see the benefit you'd have getting the next set in the Sapphire Series?

Just an opinion, but come on!

And for the record, I don't know why they're in 480 also. Dumb decision

Now we're complaining about the picture quality of commercials? Give me a break, already

It gives you no idea how good they'll look on Blu if they're in 480p -- especially if they are part of a so-called "Sapphire Series". It is kinda dumb IMHO to advertise something as any good if the quality of the advertisement is poor.

If I see a commercial and the image looks awesome, I might consider picking it up. Paramount seems to have not really gone the extra mile on these Sapphire Series Blu's at all!

Absolutely, this type of commercials really annoys me. It is really detrimental to blu-ray growth. When blu-ray is shown, it must be like day and night in comparison to DVD. It must portray a quantum leap. Otherwise it could really give a bad name to blu-ray ... and could be counterproductive.

Yep...I saw it and was like -- That looks horrible! I had to think a sec about checking the HDTV's Display Info and once I did saw 480p.

Paramount -- We love your stuff, but C'mon!

You're right, we don't care. Those who already own blu-ray understand what the format is about and it doesn't matter what commercials look like. We will get it anyway if we are interested.

However, this is a big deal when it comes to those people who are still unsure about the format. A 1080p commercial would definitely capture their attention, unlike a standard 480p commercial. It is all about marketing to the "on the fence" buyers of the format, in which they have failed (at least with the commercial)

It's just like all of the HDTV commercials...if you don't own an HDTV how are you gonna tell how much better the piture is in an ad? Or, for that matter, a less-than-stellar HDTV versus an upgrade. Commercials for these types of products are meant to get people into the stores.

But yeah, it may be counterproductive but oh well.
