United Kingdom Gladiator & Braveheart Sapphire Edition's

I'am for one very annoyed that these TITLES will not be REGION FREE like all PARAMOUNT RELEASE'S are does any one agree with me on this matter.

I know these titles are being released in the UK soon but never the less PARAMOUNT should stick to REGION FREE BLU-RAY'S.

1. Gladiator (UK) Release September 7th
2. Braveheart (UK) Release November 2nd
3. Forrest Gump (UK) Release November 2nd

No one has confirmed that Forrest Gump is region locked.

And Gladiator is the same release regardless of whether you get the Dreamworks US/CAN or the Universal UK version.

Yawn! Paramount don't own the rights to Gladiator and Braveheart in the UK, etc. They do with Forrest Gump. This is clearly a rights issue.

And it's also not confirmed that Braveheart is cut. The dvd is cut, but that doesn't mean the blu-ray will be also.

The UK steel book is the better looking version anyways.

Braveheart isn't exactly a cut, it's a substitution, so the throat cutting scene is not quite as graphic.

The extras appear to be the same, so I'm quite happy with it.

Well done Universal for staying true your word Region Free all the way Paramount take note of this don't just suddenly change the goal posts when you feel like it for 2 Release's.

I am keeping an eye on Paramount. I so far I think it will be movies launched under a collection or series title that will be locked and there standard titles will be region free. If these titles see less sales they might change there minds and decide to stay region free.

region Coding is the worst enemy for Blu Ray and the studios that does region coding is to dumb to even realize that.

I believe it would only be the US editions that are region locked since they got released first. It seems to be one of those cases that when the title is already available in region A, the region B's will likely be region free since there is no incentive to import anymore.

I'm done with regions now anyway, I got myself 2 60gb PS3's from region A and B and i'm upgrading both to slims soon.

Best of luck with that region coding thing

Braveheart BBFC decissions
This was submitted in 1995
http://bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified...7?OpenDocument

And it was cut

but here is a new submission of the movie from 1997
http://bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified...F?OpenDocument

And it was passed with no cuts

And here is another one from 2008
http://bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified...4?OpenDocument

Also no cuts but the runningtime is 170 min while the other are 179 min i guess the one with 170 min is without credits

So does that mean the Blu ray will be uncut

The above was already answered in another thread but just in case:

Since the theatrical version at 24 frames per second is 177 minutes, the PAL version at 25 fps would be 170 minutes, and the most recent submission is from 2008 for the Gibson commentary, which is listed at 170 minutes (i.e. a PAL DVD). For Blu-ray, there is no PAL speed-up for HD material, so the UK Blu-ray (which has not yet, and may not need to be, reclassified by the BBFC) should run 177 minutes. The original cut requested to gain a '15' was two seconds in length, so even the cut version would be 177 minutes long, but the UK has become much more liberal since 1995, especially with the '15' certificate, so I would expect to see it released uncut on Blu-ray at '15'.
