Hello All,
I did a Google Search and Came across this Thread Bringing up An Issue I have been having with my System, for almost a year now. (I did do some searches but nothing came back with help for the search words i used, so I apologize in advance If I missed a post explaining this. My system: (stock clocks/with a CPU Downclocked thanks to my crappy EVGA mobo.) CPU::Q9550 2.8 Quad downclocked to 2.6 GHz GPU::GTX 260 896MB OC edition PSU::Corsair 1KW RAM::8GB DDr2 800 OCZ reaper MOBO::EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel HDD::4.5TB on Various Western Digital Hdds, and 1 1.5 TB Seagate 7200.11 Monitors::2 LG L206WTY-BF 2ms 20" Wide Screen @ 1680x1050 each CD/DVD::SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD SH-S223Q BDRW*::DVD±R/RW with Blu-ray Disc support Listed as supporting:: Optical Drive Type Blu-ray Burner Optical Drive Spec DVD+R DL Write : 8x max. DVD+R Write : 8x max. DVD+RW Write : 8x max. DVD-R Write : 8x max. DVD-RW Write : 8x max. CD-R Write : 24x max. CD-RW Write : 16x max. CD Read : 32x max. DVD Read : 8x max. BD-R DL Write : 2x max. DVD-RAM Read : 5x max. (4.7GB) BD-ROM DL Read : 2x max. *Ive wondered if this is actually a BD drive from the description and the problems I'm having with it. Sony insists it is, but Ive had issues with what they've told me versus what I received. The Drive originally came in a Sony Vaio off New Egg which has since been taken apart and put in a new case with the above new internals. I've only Tried with Wanted and Walle. At the time I was attempting to get the player to work, I had the updated drivers, now I'm currently running CyberLink Power DVD 8 (Version 8.0.2021.50). Nivida Says my graphics Card and Display are HDCP-Capable. And I'm currently running Nvidia Drivers of 185.5. I can't figure out if the problem is software, display, or Drive Related (the BDRW is almost 3.5 years old now.) Thats All I can think of that would help, and any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time. |

Well update on this.... I guess I'm going to start cheap, and assume the drive isn't what it said it was and assume it is the problem and get a new drive and then go from there.

Have a look at the software sticky regarding the four main software players. before spending money, download the trial software of each and see if any of these help. Also, try nero or anydvd or the like and check the information on what type of drive it is. If you have any blank blu rays, try burning something onto it to see if it recognises the disc type.
Sorry if you have tried all these things but it's better than shelling out for a new bd drive only to find out it was ur software and you then have to shell out for a different media player on top. |

Thanks for the Tips, I will check those softwares out, can't be too sure on that. Although to be honest, a new drive wouldn't do me harm, especially If i can get a 4X BD drive for $50-60, or an 8X for $120.00 That would double my playing capacity, and then some.
Also it is worth a mention that I did hook my pc up to my roomates Computer monitor, which is a 42" Plasma TV, and I tried playing Blu-Rays on that (resolution was 1920x1080) and the Blu-Ray still wouldn't play. So that narrows it down to Software or Hardware. When I check the Drive info using Nero 9 Burning ROM I get this: Disc types: CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD-DL, DVD-RAM, BD-R/RE, BD DL Max CD: Speed 31x Disc-at-once: Cue sheet DAO/96 Firmware Revision: B100 CD Text: Supported Overburn: Supported Recorder Buffer: 2048KB Buffer underrun protection: Supported And it is an IDE drive.
