Default Kojima to Develop on the PS3 Once More Thanks to MW2

Maybe the title is a little misleading, but apparently in the January OPM issue Kojima has stated that U2 and AC2 are both awesome, and MW2 has inspired him and he is quoted saying "After seeing Modern Warfare 2, I feel like I want to use all the modern specs!"

This has led to everyone saying he's coming back to develop something for the PS3 and speculations on whether its a new ZOE or MGS have started flying. What do you guys think and is too much being read into a simple quote?

I wish I had a better source but this is all I could pick up from work.

Modern Warfare 2 was released in November and according to Official PlayStation Magazine (Issue 040, January 2010), it's inspired Kojima to move back to developing for the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately there aren't any quotes, other than "After seeing Modern Warfare 2, I feel like I want to use all the modern specs!" And when asked why he moved to the PSP in the first place? "I wanted some young people to play MGS too" he said. "In Japan especially, the most popular hardware with this audience was the PSP"

Even without such inspiration, I'm sure he would have returned to console development.

Love Metal Gear, but I'm Metal Gear'd Out for now (MG5 for PS4 maybe?). I'd rather have ZOE3 or a new IP. ZOE2 took the series to another level.

Kojima just needed an excuse to come back. You know he was itching to return, but had to rest his mind a bit after MGS4.

The man's a schemer.

Didn't like MGS4's gameplay (dont judge i never liked any MG in the series but i gave them a try hoping i would phase out of hating Tactical Espionage) hopefully he makes something new, i love the graphics n story line its just not my genre of game

Perhaps that proposed first-person shooter he was talking about after MGS4?

MG is boring now. Its time to move on. All that talent and its all going to waste on something that offers very little new.

Well, personally I think MG is still more fun than the umpteenth FPS. Call of Duty, Restistance, Killzone, etc ... they're all feel very similar in game play to me. MG offers a nice change from constant trigger happy shooting to stealthy action and it has some fun inside jokes.
But that's just my opinion.

I just hope he develops a new IP rather than selling MGS to be a shooter, which MGS4 showed signs of.

Kojima lost me when he became 'inspired' by MW2... Possibly one of the worst FPS to come out in the past two years.

maybe it was a letdown to some (hey, it underperformed in my eyes too, although I am addicted to multiplayer), but no way is it even close to the worst FPS to come out in the past year (in fact, it's still probably one of the best). Most disappointing FPS to come out in the past two years... I'll give you that (because it's more subjective based on expectations)

I think Kojima was inspired by some of MW2's cinematic qualities and action sequences (barring actual gameplay deficiencies). At least it did those things well.

I would have much rather have had a new ZOE game than MGS4.. Hopefully ZOE or a new IP is coming (new but focused on gameplay and not just watching).

Don't think there was any doubt about his return, he's announced his resignation from MGS after every game. I wouldn't mind Snatcher or something getting the update Metal Gear did with MGS1.
