So it looks like Gabe Newell isn't being an ass anymore by not developing games for the PS3.

G4: So, last time we talked at Leipzig, I had asked you why there would be no Left 4 Dead on PS3 and you said because Valve, itself, wasn’t big enough to yet support PS3 development in-house. Is that still the case why Left 4 Dead 2 is not announced for the PS3?

Newell: Yes. We haven’t done a good job of taking care of our PS3 customers at all for the existing Orange Box customers, and that is very frustrating to me personally. Until we can do a better job than we have, I’m sort of hesitant to go back and screw them again. So, I want to make sure when we have customers on the PS3 they don’t end up in the sort of second class citizen that I feel that they’ve been by what we did originally with the Orange Box.
I think this guy has multiple personality's

He said the same thing Newell did in his latest statement.

All he said is we aren't developing for PS3 because we don't have the people.

Reading into it that Valve will touch the PS3 any time soon seems like pure speculation to me.

Congrats, Newell and Lombardi! Looks like they've finally put their past aside and decided to do what they've finally should've done for the Orange Box PS3 version. Kudos!

Indeed. Should probably change the thread title to reflect that.

I am at a loss here with whether or not Valve will make games for the PS3. I really don't care if they do or not. I haven't missed any of their games, yet if they do make games for it, all the better.

So they finally figured out that there are 24 million PS3 owners that might buy their games?

Perhaps they should get some guys at Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch to work for them; maybe to make things easier for the Valve team and them and to not cause any uprising against each others consoles. We can persuade Newell and Lombardi to do that, since they can hire anyone to the Valve team.

I hoping that this means that there'll be much less fat jokes on Gabe Newell and also that Half Life 2: Episode 3 will be released on the console. I just want to know what happens after that shocking ending in Episode 2.

Don't get your hopes up too much. It all depends on the outlook of the writer, I guess. This one paints a less rosy picture.

I didn't realize they had done the same on PS2 they did on PS3-- get another company to do it. If it's been going on this long, I wouldn't hold my breath. Let's face it, Gabe Newell still hates the PS3, he just doesn't want to be obvious anymore. There's no reason why Valve couldn't hire PS3 developers at this point, especially with all the developer layoffs lately there have got to be a bunch looking for work. They just don't want to bother, I think. I might be being a bit pessimistic, but they haven't exactly shown a lot of effort.

Actually it doesn't mean anything.
The interview just pointed out another "rationalization" for them not to develop on PS3.
They never indicated that they were actively looking forward to build a PS3 team, just that until that (very hypothetical) point, they would not develop anything for PS3 anymore.

Do not get your hopes up guys.

More like Valve to get someone to develop for the PS3. Its what they did with Orange Box. They want new people to do it here bc they cant be bothered to learn it themselves

Since it's hiring employees, and not hiring separate companies, it's not going to end up like The Orange Box with EA porting the PS3 version.

You have a point. I mean, there might be a chance that Newell will boot them out of Valve after they [possible PS3 experts from Sony] just got hired, since he is still a Microsoft-loving, bigoted fatass.
