Default Steven Spielberg???

Ok, now that Minority Report has been announced my question is why are virtually none of his films available on blu ray? Is he reluctant to adopt the format? I mean no Jurassic Park, no Jaws, no Saving Private Ryan, no Schindler's list, no AI, no ET, no War of the Worlds, no Indiana Jones (except for the fourth installment). Close Encounters is about the only one I can name. Anybody got any info?

He's waiting so that he can take any guns that appear in any of those movies and change them to walkie-talkies before releasing the movies on Blu-Ray.

Most of his titles belong to Universal and/or Dreamworks for which he does seem to exhibt a lot of control. I think he's waiting for Blu-ray to hit a high saturation point in the market, much like the DVD release of the Indiana Jones movies.

Yeah but he has no say over the Indy films. That would be Mr. Lucas

Desperately waiting for so many Spielberg classics... Not sure about the delay. You are probably right - most like that the studios want to release these once blu-ray is truly mass market.

LOL. That would be a mess with Saving Private Ryan.

E.T, they changed the guns to walkie talkies. South Park made fun of this in the episode "Free Hat".

Lucas and Spielberg were also very slow to adopt DVD too. There was a lot of chatter back in the late 1990s wondering why the two were snubbing their noses at DVD.

There was talk that STAR WARS, for example, would never get a DVD release.

I would think we should hear more within a year or so. Hopefully. I'm really looking forward to Jaws, as that's my favorite movie, but after watching Jurassic Park the other day on DVD, I was stunned by how soft it looked...so I will gladly take that and many more of his great films...I would even like to see War of the Worlds, just for the chance to hear those alien ships in HD audio...

Spielberg already got 2 1/4 movies released on BD:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Twilight Zone: The Movie

I would love to see any movies from him on BD. Even Hook.

I'd love Hook! It needs some special features too.

Jaws is my all time favorite film as well-- I couldn't help notice the irony of your avatar-- Nicholson in CUCKOOS NEST-- the film that beat JAWS for Best Picture that year! I remember being so mad as a kid!!

You're right, and I totally forgot that. At least Cuckoos nest is a good film. There are many films that have gotten snubbed in favor of really bad films. As soon as JAWS is released on blu I will change my avatar immediately.

I believe Jurassic park was rumoured to be released in 2010, I remember reading this in bluray.com
