Default favorite steven spielberg film and why?

maybe the placebo effect is coming into effect at 36 years old...., however, JAWS for me is the only film that SS has done that has been so enthralling. (not only the cinematogrophy.. the john williams score at the end credits is simply amazing. what do all you think?

Schindler's List. Based on actual events and obviously close to Speilberg's heart.

Catch Me if You Can, Jaws and Munich. Otherwise I think the man is vastly overpraised.

I really enjoyed Saving Private Ryan and A.I. (Artificial Intellegence) because I can watch them more than once.

Verna Fields editing really made the picture flow. She probably contributed alot to the success of the film.

I'd have to go with Jaws as well. The real dialog and characters contrasted by the unreal Great White was amazing. What he was able to accomplish with this movie. One of my all time favorites.

Scared the Sh** out of me as a kid though.

Gotta go with Raiders, not only my favorite Spielberg movie, but my favorite movie period. It's got a mix of just about everything that's good about watching a movie.

minority report.

Just think it's a very cool movie and the plot twists were well done.

I'm going with Close Encoutners Of The Third Kind. Something about this film still captivates me to this day. I saw it growing up and fell in love with this movie. When I got my PS3 shortly after they came out, I kept hoping this would come to Blu Ray. Well low and behold, it did. I have never seen this movie look this incredible and the DTS-HD soundtrack sounds incredible, especially when the Mother Ship arrives at the end. Not to mention the superb soundtrack courtesy of John Williams.

Jaws and Munich are two of my favourite films of all time.

Empire of the Sun will stay with me forever.

Cant help but wish Stanley Kubrick had taken control of AI himself and allowed Spielberg to produce instead of direct.

Schindlers List is another amazing piece of cinema and i guess for what it is Jurassic Park hits all the right buttons.

he is such a difficult director to figure out as he his so diverse yet always the same and as much as i enjoy his films i always have a guilty feeling or a feeling that somwhere along the lines ive been let down.

for me Spielberg's best work is got to be Close Encounters followed closely by Indy Trilogy, Jurassic Park, Minority Report, Empire of The Sun, Shindler's List and the first Alien attack from War of The Words(if only the rest of the movie was as good).

I totally agree, it has that unique(the truth is out there) mood that has been captured to perfection.
