Father-in-Law isn't doing well

i'd like to ask my blu-ray family to keep me & my family in your thoughts & prayers.....my father in law has been battling health problems for quite a few years now and isn't doing very well.

from what the dr's have told my mother in law and my wife, he's not going to make it much longer.

he's had 2 minor strokes in the last 4 years, has battled diabetes since he was a kid, and has had heart problems as well. he has gone down hill fast over the last 4 years.

from what i understand....my wife just called me here @ work....he has pnuemonia in his lungs, he's aspirating, is having trouble eating, and is hallucinating.

he's tired of living like this and told the dr's to make him comfortable as possible.

i will keep u all posted on his status, but if u are the praying kind, please keep us in yours.

thanks guys!!! obviously i wish it hadn't come to this just yet, he has 5 grandkids w/the youngest having just turned 1 in Dec. and the oldest being my daughter who just turned 4.

but on the other hand, i really don't want to see him suffer anymore than he already has.

I'm sorry to hear that Benny. If it hasn't been done already, please ask his doctors about hospice care. They specialize in end of life care and take all of the patient's needs into account, including his emotional needs, and the well being of his immediate familly. Many hospice services are run by non-profit organizations, and require no payment from the family, even if they do not have an insurance that covers such services. They may even be able to provide services in the patient's home for those who long to pass at home.

He’s currently in palliative care….which the diff. between that and hospice care I’m not sure of…..

I honestly don’t know if they expect him to make it much longer to be honest.
